The cure for cabin fever, the day after the Snowmaggedon on Saturday, January 23, 2016 turned out to be bacon, bourbon and beer. That trifecta of yum was served at the B3 Bash at the Mellwood Art Center, which was a fundraiser for Kosair Charities. Guests enjoyed the “Three B’s” along with entertainment by Tony and the Tanlines and a silent auction.
Guests wore their snow boots, some changing into fun party shoes, others remaining cozy and comfy in theirs. There were men in suits and men in t-shirts, with their love of bacon as the great equalizer this cold night. Everyone enjoyed the great band and mainly, getting out of their houses for a change of scenery after a few days trapped in the snow. Guests also enjoyed the unlimited tastings of delicious food, with over 20 bacon creations by local chefs. As one party goer said “there was bacon wrapped everything.” Drinks were provided by Makers Mark, craft beer provided by West Sixth and wine provided by Old 502.
Tony and the Tanlines really set the fun party atmosphere, with their funky attire. There were sunglasses, boas, admiral hats, tight pants and a sequin dress. They were playing a lot of great 80’s and 90’s pop hits.
Most interesting product we saw: Beer Syrup. This locally made product can be used in cocktails, on pancakes and/or to cook with. There were three flavors: Bourbon Barrel Stout, Mocha Porter and Pecan Nut Brown.
