Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot of chatter of “what do I wear to (fill in the blank)?” Once a month, I’m going to try to answer some of these questions and do a little legwork for you, picking out dresses and other appropriate attire to some of the events on our docket here in Louisville.
Let’s look at March, as that will give you a couple of weeks to get a dress, get any alterations, start a diet or at least start organizing your Spanx before the event.
The Speed Museum Ball, on Saturday, March 3, is the kickoff to the season. We have partnered with the Speed to offer a great giveaway of two free tickets to the Ball, as Friends of the Speed (dancing portion of the evening). In my mind, this is a premier Spring gala, and I like lots of color for the evening.
This dress by Tadashi is my one of my go-to designers for a dress. Always flattering and always (gasp!) comfortable, this dress is in my favorite color as well, chartreuse. This dress is available at Glasscock’s. Other Tadashi dresses are also available at Von Maur.
Along the same cut as the Tadashi dress, this Boutique Montage dress is very flattering. It’s a beautiful ombre, shading from light blue–to darker blue–to green at the bottom. This dress is available at Rodeo Drive.
This beautiful sequin dress by Jovani has incredible quality of detail and is also an ombre dress. The sequins go from a tightly woven gold at the top to a more scattered metallic silver at the bottom. The dress has criss-cross straps in the back.
This dress is a very spring blush tone with sheer accents. Made by Nicole Miller, it is available at Rodeo Drive as well.
Everyone got an idea in their head now of what you want?
I would also recommend that with this short of notice (two weeks from the event) that you shop and preferably shop local. That way, you can try on the dress and alter it if need be.
Be sure to sign up for the giveaway, so that you have an excuse to wear a pretty dress.
