November brings chilly weather, bonfires and one of our favorite holidays: Thanksgiving! If you can’t wait to embrace the month of November and all that it brings to your schedule (and wardrobe), check out what events we’re excited about and our style suggestions for your social agenda.
This month, we are highlighting the Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs, Louisville Mashed at the Frazier History Museum and The 95th Annual Bachelors’ Ball at the Pendennis Club. To help you figure out what to wear to each event, we visited local boutiques Something Blue, Apricot Lane and Water + Oak Outdoor Company to find these fabulous looks. Louisville blogger Danielle Davis of Lou What Wear models today’s looks on the gorgeous grounds of Brown-Forman.
The Event: Breeders’ Cup
- November 3 & 4, 2017
- Gates open at 12:30 p.m.
- Tickets start at $5 and can be purchased here.
- For more information, visit churchilldowns.com.
Hold your horses, Louisville, it’s time to place your bets for the Breeders’ Cup. This annual Churchill Downs event is a Louisville classic. While the actual race is not being held at Churchill Downs this year, you can still watch and wager on the Breeders’ Cup Championships from Del Mar Racetrack while watching live racing at the Louisville track.
What to wear: You’ll see a little bit of everything for this racing event, but we recommend keeping it on the fancier side. A pop of color, an elegant dress and comfy booties are all great choices. It may be a little chilly, but the good news is that the Breeders’ Cup will be viewed indoors, so you won’t have to step outside unless you want to. We’re showing you two bold, trendy looks to make you feel like a million bucks on race day.
The Event: Louisville Mashed
- November 9, 2017
- 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Tickets start at $40 and can be purchased here.
- For more information, visit louisvillemashed.com.
Louisville Mashed is partnering with [give] 502 and Family and Children’s Place to bring you the area’s best bourbon-themed event for young professionals! Tickets include tastings of premier bourbon and beer, tasty eats, networking with over 400 Louisville-area professionals and an awesome silent auction with tons of items for bourbon lovers. This is a great opportunity to expand your network and meet fellow professionals while enjoying Kentucky’s favorite spirit.
What to wear: Business casual is the way to go. Since most professionals will be heading over from work, it’s safe to say you’ll see anything from blazers to dresses to jeans. You’ll also want to be comfortable, since it’s a big night of networking where you’ll be talking to dozens of people. We’re showing you how to dress up a comfy outfit so you can mix and mingle with the best of them.
The Event: The 95th Annual Bachelors’ Ball
- November 24, 2017
- 8 p.m.
- Tickets are $50 for women and $75 for men and can be purchased here.
- For more information, visit bachelorsclublouisville.com.
It’s officially gala season! There are tons of events happening this month for you to attend if you love to give to charities and look extra fancy while doing so. Some galas include Hosparus Health Candle Glow Gala, Stars Come Out to Support Healing TREE, Metro United Way 100th Anniversary Gala and The Giving Tree Gala. We’re highlighting The 95th Annual Bachelors’ Ball hosted by The Bachelors’ Club of Louisville at the Pendennis Club, where guests can enjoy a full open bar and hors d’oeuvres. Dance to live music in your favorite frock as you support the Bachelors’ Club’s ongoing efforts to provide local charities with support through both social and philanthropic efforts. This year the Bachelors’ Ball is supporting The Center for Women and Families.
What to wear: This event is black-tie optional. For us ladies, this means we can wear a long evening gown or a chic cocktail dress. We love that jewel-toned velvet is in this season, so we’re showing you a royal blue cocktail look and a classic little black dress that will make you feel like the belle of the ball!
Enjoy this cozy month of November. These looks will be sure to get you on the right foot for a fashionable, on-trend holiday season!
