Finally! Summer is here and it’s warm enough to put on our sleeveless dresses and shorts and head outside. Louisville offers a lot of great things to do, so be sure to check out all of our events and happenings in June here. For this article, though, we picked three June events and have found three outfits from local boutiques to wear to each one. This month, we are highlighting the Fest of Ale, Foxhollow Farm’s Concert Series and the Taste of 21c. We featured great summer looks from Liv Boutique, Apricot Lane Boutique, Collections, Circe + SWAG, Merci Boutique, J.McLaughlin, M.E. Modern Elegance, The Shirt Shop and Boutique Serendipity. Here’s what to wear in June!
The Event: Fest of Ale
- Saturday, June 4, 2016
- 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- New Albany Riverfront Amphitheater
- Crusade for Children fundraiser
- Tickets are $40 in advance, $50 at the gate
Take the afternoon on Saturday, June 4, to sample some great international beers while raising money for a great cause: the Crusade for Children. The 11th annual Fest of Ale features over 100 breweries and more than 250 craft and import beers. There will also be great food and wine, with eight fine wine distributors on-site. After you sample some great beverages, be sure to walk around historic New Albany and check out the great shopping and restaurants. To buy tickets, visit meetup.com. Our very own FACE of Louisville, Tisha Gainey, is in charge of the event, so be sure to meet the talent behind this operation!
What to wear: Think comfortable and cool, but with a hit of fun. We anticipate that you might be out for the night after this fest, so dress accordingly! Loose tanks and dresses with fun jewelry and shoes are all on the menu.
The Event: Foxhollow Farm’s Summer Concert Series
- Friday, June 10, 2016
- 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Foxhollow Farm
- Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door
Foxhollow Farm is a gorgeous setting to watch the sun set while listening to live music from Louisvillian Brigid Kaelin, of the Brigid Kaelin Band, with The Birds. This concert series takes place the second Friday of every month through September and lasts from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Bring the whole family, along with your own blankets and chairs, and even your pets (on leashes), and enjoy this great evening. There is great, farm-fresh food from local vendors available for purchase. For tickets, visit foxhollow.com. (Want a sneak peek of this beautiful venue? Read our article about it here.)
What to wear: Something light and airy for a summer night, but still “concert-worthy.” We picked linen and eyelet for this night and on our third look, threw in a light linen jean jacket in case it gets chilly.
The Event: Taste of 21c
- Thursday, June 30, 2016
- Starts at 6:30 p.m.
- At Proof on Main
- Tickets are $72 a person
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, 21c Louisville and Proof on Main are hosting a series of guest chef dinners from all of the 21c restaurants around the country. The dinner will showcase the culinary skills of 21c Bentonville, AR’s executive Chef Matthew McClure of The Hive restaurant. Guests can enjoy cocktails starting at 6:30 p.m. and then partake in a tasty, family-style dinner, merging the flavors of Kentucky with Arkansas for the night. For more information and to make your reservations, call (502) 217-6360 or click here.
What to wear: For this innovative meal, you need an outfit that is just as unique. We chose a long jumpsuit with a great print, a sassy bright silk romper and a flattering maxi. All of the outfits are casual, yet dressy.
Join us for our Shop for a Cause Event on Thursday, June 2, 2016, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at J.McLaughlin, where 15 percent of all sales go to Holistic Women’s Cancer Therapies at Norton Healthcare. Come enjoy light bites and drinks while you shop the Summer 2016 Collection and toast J. McLaughlin’s four great years in Louisville.
Eat, drink and be merry this June!
