With the weather heating up, it is the perfect time to grab some ice cream. May and June are peak strawberry months. All of the sweets and treats establishments in town are using this strawberry season to showcase their strawberry ice creams. We reviewed five different strawberry ice creams around town for you to try:
The Pie Kitchen offers this seasonal flavor in a few different ways. Visitors can enjoy this flavor in scoop or two of their hand-churned strawberry ice cream, a strawberry cupcake or a slice of strawberry cake.
The Comfy Cow offers two variations on their strawberry ice cream. Strawberry Fields Forever is their traditional strawberry ice cream. Shorty’s Strawberry Shortcake is a variation of the traditional flavor, featuring Cake Batter ice cream swirled with delicious strawberries.
Graeter’s best-selling flavors are the ones made with chips. Wisely, they took the local flavor of the month and added chocolate chips to it. Their Strawberry Chip ice cream is one of their best-selling summer flavors. Aside from their famous French Pot Churned ice cream, the strawberry flavor is also offered in frozen lemonade and in a strawberry smoothie topped with yogurt.
When people think about Huber’s, they typically think pumpkins and hay rides, but Huber’s offers more than that. The Ice Cream Shop offers strawberry ice cream made from strawberries grown on site. The bakery offers a taste of strawberries in their homemade strawberry jam, strawberry bread and strawberry rhubarb. Visitors can also pick their own strawberries from the strawberry garden from May 28 to June 5, while the summer fruit is still in season.
Gelato Giberto offers more than 20 flavors of gelato and sorbetto, made from scratch each day from fresh seasonal products. This is their Sorbetto alla Fragola, which sounds so nice and fancy.
We highly recommend you try all five ice creams, just for quality control’s sake. Your taste buds will thank you later.
