StyleBlueprint publishes its Luxe Loves twice a year, and it is a never a struggle to find beautiful, luxurious items at our local retailers. Since it’s Derby time, here are a few things to adorn your home — or yourself — during this festive season.
FASHION & JEWELRY
A girl needs a beautiful and unique dress for all the upcoming Derby balls, and we have found one at Circe. This floor-length gown by Alexis features gray and blue lace overlay with grosgrain ribbon detail and a sheer waistband. The necklace is a vintage brooch attached to a gold necklace by Michala. The dress retails for $1,080; the necklace is sold for $480.
This diamond open-circle pendant from Clater Jewelers is a delicate piece featuring a circle of diamonds encasing a diamond flower. It is perfect to wear every day or for special occasions. Available for $1,438
This mixed media statement necklace appears to be a work of art, with feathers, chain, metal and beading. This beauty is sold at Peacock Boutique, and we loved it so much that we styled Judy Lambeth from Maryhurst in this very necklace for our Charity Photo Shoot. Look at how lovely it is on her! This retails for $375.
Emerald and diamond ring
This Edwardian diamond and Colombian emerald ring is set in platinum and dates back to 1915, which makes it just over 100 years old. Just goes to show that diamonds and emeralds never, ever go out of style. The main diamond is 1.43 carats, and the emerald weighs 1.28 carats, and it’s guaranteed to last a lifetime. Find it at Jordan Clines Jewelers for $11,500.
FOR THE HOME
Merridian is known for its interior design and furniture. It’s also the perfect stop when it comes to decorating for Derby. This horse print will give your home a subtle, yet elegant, Derbytime feel, and the attention to detail makes it so lifelike. It is a black and white photograph printed on canvas and the dimensions are 48.5” x 32.5″. Find it at Merridian for $799.
Leather and hide chair
We loved this quilted leather and hide chair when we first saw it at our Tiny Home unveil. From Carriage House Interiors, it is a Century Trading Co. Brindle Leather Chair that retails for $1,575. It is cozy, elegant and incredibly comfortable. We picture it in a study or tucked in a cozy nook of your den like it is here.
End tables for a daily pick-me-up!
Instead of a plain old wooden table, liven up your living room and think of your side and end tables as accessories. These fun, bright tables at Fleur de Lis are the perfect resting spots for your decor and book collection. (Please note Carolyne Roehm’s book — she was just a FACES of the South!) The green table has a wooden top, while the blue table has a glass top. Each is sold for $295. And, yes, for furniture the price is really not so luxe, but they are so appealing, with such a loud voice that screams “buy me!” that that they easily become a pricer “I didn’t need these … but what the heck, I love them!”
Child’s julep cups
It’s never too early for a Kentuckian to start his or her julep cup collection. While these prices definitely aren’t break-the-bank, the idea of a child’s julep cup is definitely a luxe one! These are beautiful as is or engraved, and either option would make a perfect baby gift. Available at Animal Crackers, the julep cup with a handle is $49.50, and the one without a handle is $46.50. Maybe start with a glass of milk or juice rather than a mint julep …
Entitled “Chromatic Rain,” this paint on acrylic piece is stunning and large, measuring 50-x-66 inches. Available at Lee W. Robinson’s showroom, it is a modern masterpiece sold for $1,230.
We tout equine decor all year round, not just during Derby. Digs has these lush, overstuffed pillows with classic equine art themes on the front and quilted linen on the back that will complete your interior’s look. Sold for $295 each, look for them in Digs’ new indoor showroom.
This tray and ice bucket seemed to mesh perfectly with our Luxe Loves/leather/equine theme. The leather-lined tray and accompanying ice bucket with copper details are sold at Dolfinger’s. The ice bucket is $215, and the leather tray is $165. The fleur de lis glasses shown here are a decidedly non-luxe price with big wow appeal! Just $12 each.
Enjoy your Derby season, and may your home enjoy the fruits of your Luxe Loves shopping!
