Check all that apply to the handbag you are carrying today:
- Beach bag
- Diaper bag
- Man purse
- Overnight bag
- Carry extra goodies home from shopping weekend bag
I bet you cannot check all the boxes.
Now you can. Allow me to introduce the Longchamp Le Pliage. Simply a nylon bag with leather straps and flap. There are handbags, totes and backpacks all made of this lightweight material. Prices range from $88 to $145.
Take your pick. I’m not even scratching the surface with this picture of all the color combinations. Here’s a double color:
I have had a Longchamp tote since 1994. It has performed all of the above functions. Check all of them off the list with this bag, as truly it does it all. Plus, it zips closed (and that’s a big plus) and folds up into nothing. I’m thrilled that they have made such a resurgence. My bank account is thrilled too.
It is especially fashionable with the younger folk. A local teen trend blog here, PopCosmo, put it on its teen holiday gift guide. At $125 on average, it is not a cheap purse for a teen, but consider that I have had mine for almost 20 years. I call it “an investment piece” that won’t break the bank.
You can customize your Longchamp on their website: www.longchamp.com. Pick the size, color (options are endless here), handle size and even a monogram if you wish. Warning, this is where the price starts going up.
Look who else loves their Longchamps:
I’m just focusing on the Le Pliage purse today. But, Longchamp makes some of finest all-leather purses on the market which are definitely an investment, but I have had mine for almost twenty years.
In the meantime, here’s a little eye candy.
Wouldn’t you buy a purse from a store that looked like this? This is the staircase at the New York City Longchamp store.

Happy toting ladies!
