I am a woman for others.
That being said, I have to let you all in a widely-known secret. NOW is the time to head down to the Zappos Outlet in Shepardsville. I mean RIGHT NOW.
Here’s why: Christmas gifts are being returned as we speak. Unworn, unsoiled, underused, under-appreciated little gems litter the outlet. Did I mention too that EVERYTHING IS AT LEAST 50% off the lowest ticketed price?
It takes 20 minutes to get there. Spend an hour or less (or more) and then drive 20 minutes back. My total time with travel was a little under an hour when I went this week.
Have you heard of Uggs? Frye Boots? Nike? Didn’t get what you wanted for Christmas in these categories? Treat yourself, ladies (and men) (and kids).
I went down for a different reason. Seemingly overnight, as it always seems to happen, my eldest daughter grew out of all of her shoes. I needed tennis shoes, fast. I refuse to buy full-price retail for my children’s shoes and I always have luck at Zappos.
It was a goldmine.
There were shoes there that I have never seen darken the threshold at Zappos before. The newest leopard print Sperrys for one:
(Excuse some of the pictures. I was taking them incognito with my iPhone).
Next, I found her the new Nike Air Max shoes that “everyone wants.” They were full up on all sorts of expensive tennis shoes in all the bright colors.
Third order of business was snow boots. The previous dusting reminded me that her old snow boots were 4 sizes too small. I bought a pair of Canadian boots and I trust them with all arctic-related weather matters. But, my eye wandered to all the great boots. If I were a nicer mom, I would have splurged for her to get a pair of Uggs or for me to get Frye Boots. Here’s what I found in that department.
Or just go for it with these beautiful Frye boots with a button back enclosure. Divine.
So many Uggs that the Zappos team gave them their own party table.
If you are not looking for boots, they have beautiful heels and other shoes as well. Need a basic nude heel for year-round wear? Look no further.
I briefly glanced at the clothing racks. I found this jacket in a child’s size. After what I spent on North Face jackets for Christmas for my girls, I walked away in a huff after seeing this. It worked out to be less than $50 after the discount.
I bought my shoes and left. My daughter squealed with delight at the big unveil of her new shoes.
As with any trip to Zappos, go with an open mind. I knew I needed tennis shoes and snow boots but was open to whatever. Also, just because I saw the shoes there last Tuesday does not mean they will still be there when you go. Just know that this season is chock-full of goodies and you will surely find something.
Enjoy and be safe on the trek down I-65. It’s worth it. Click here for a map.
