Peaches in July? Yes, ma’am! The perfect summer ice cream flavor is finally here, and we’ve sampled our way through the city to bring you our top picks for this decidedly summertime sweet. On these hot, humid days, a scoop or two of peach ice cream is the perfect pick-me-up or a deliciously refreshing way to cool down. But remember, the peachy season won’t last long, so taste for yourself before the tasty fruit disappears from menus! Here you go, the best peach ice cream in Louisville!

While The Comfy Cow is usually our go-to for seasonal peach ice cream, it seems this year it was everyone else’s, too! A few weeks ago, The Comfy Cow made peach sorbet and it sold out, but according to one of the cashiers at The Comfy Cow on Frankfort Avenue, they are hoping to have either the sorbet, ice cream or both back in stock soon! In the meantime, we couldn’t help but try their Scarborough Fair smoothie made with peaches and blueberries, which was delicious, especially on a humid evening.

When the sweet tooth strikes, Chillers is the perfect antidote. With a pair of locations, Chillers is fantastic not only for its delish peach ice cream, but also for its drive-thru. Tasty and convenient!

Dairy Kastle knows how to do soft-serve right. It’s like the best I’ve ever had. But they also know their peach milkshakes, which happen to be available as long as this seasonal storefront is serving. If peach isn’t your flavor of choice, give vanilla or chocolate soft-serve a try!

Arctic Scoop’s menu is limitless. Customize your ice cream, and the folks at Arctic Scoop use liquid nitrogen to freeze it right in front of you. But since we’re talking about peach ice cream, Arctic Scoop’s was one of my favorites while putting this story together. With large chunks of peach, it was easy to finish the whole cup in a matter of minutes. Definitely put this on your summer bucket list!
Louisville Cream is our city’s newest gourmet ice cream vendor. Although they don’t have their own storefront (coming soon!), they serve at some great events around town, including The Flea Off Market and just this past weekend, Poorcastle. They also cater and are open to making new flavors! Louisville Cream’s spin on seasonal peach ice cream is hot, literally. Hot Fuzz is made with roasted peaches and charred jalapenos, so first it’s fruity, then it’s hot. You can try Hot Fuzz at any of Louisville Cream’s upcoming events: July 16, Rye Back Porch Series; July 24, Great Flood Brewery; July 25 and August 1, Douglas Loop Farmers Market; and August 8 and 9, Flea Off Market. Definitely catch this one while it lasts!

It’s no secret that Graeter’s has good ice cream all year, but their peach ice cream during the summer is to die for! Luckily for those who can’t make it to one of the many Graeter’s locations, this ice cream can be purchased in most grocery stores around town.
