We love October for the football, the fall weather and the great events that are on the schedule. This month we are going to help you find something to wear to the KMAC Bourbon Bash, the Hope Scarves “Colors of Courage” Fundraiser and the opening weekend at Keeneland for the fall racing meet. We found great options at local boutiques: M.E. Modern Elegance,  Blu Boutique, Liv Boutique, Peacock Boutique, General Eccentric, Something Blue, Collections, Apricot Lane, Clater Jewelers, Jordan Clines Jewelers and FRESH Boutique 4 Girls. Here’s what to wear to these great October events!

The Event: KMAC Bourbon Bash

  • October 1, 2016
  • 8 p.m. to midnight
  • 715 W. Main St., Louisville, KY 40202 — at the newly remodeled KMAC Museum
  • Tickets start at $100; purchase them online here.

The KMAC Bourbon Bash is back at the KMAC Museum, recently reopened after a substantial renovation. There will be bourbon tastings galore, along with a “tasting experience” presented by Bourbon University. Don’t miss the food at this event — it will be from Bobby Benjamin of Butchertown Grocery. In keeping with the artistic atmosphere, there will be interactive art displays and live art presentations in addition to dancing to both live music and a DJ.

What to wear: Definitely dress to impress but don’t be afraid to be a little avant garde. Look for that LBD (little black dress) with something different, like suede or a metallic overlay shown below.

The Event: Hope Scarves “Colors of Courage” Fundraiser

  • October 7, 2016
  • 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • 11905 La Grange Road, Anchorage, KY, 40223 — at the home of Natalie and Reise Officer
  • Tickets are $75 and can be purchased here.

Held in the sprawling backyard at the historic Anchorage home of Natalie and Reise Officer, this casual outdoor fundraiser for Hope Scarves is a wonderful, heartfelt night underneath the lights strung through the old trees. There’s always great food from River Road BBQ and a tempting specialty drink. The silent auction here is one of the best in town and you can always spy the people hovering over their items in hopes of winning. The best part of the evening is seeing all the hope that this great organization inspires, sharing scarves and support for those facing cancer.

What to wear: Wear a cute dress but bring a wrap or jacket in case it gets chilly. This event goes on rain or shine, so be prepared to wear your rain boots if needed or your sandals if it’s warm.

The Event: Keeneland Fall Meet Opening Weekend

  • Gates open at 11 a.m. First race is 1:05 p.m. and the last race of the day is 6:03 p.m.
  • Located at 4201 Versailles Road, Lexington, Kentucky 40510
  • General admission tickets start at $5, and all tickets can be purchased here.

Fall and Keeneland just seem so right for each other. The opening fall meet weekend at Keeneland is THE place to go and a great opportunity to wear your new fall clothes. Carloads of Louisvillians flock to Lexington this weekend, so be sure to catch a ride for the day if you can. General admission tickets start at only $5 but there are better seats to be had and they can be reserved on Keeneland’s website.

What to wear: It’s the track and it’s fall, so wear a dress or a skirt. People are definitely dressed up for this weekend but you have to be ready for the elements as well, as you are outside. If it’s cooler, opt for a warmer dress like this sweater dress below. If it’s more temperate, try a sleeveless but bring a blazer or a wrap in case you get cold. This is a great day to break out your boots, too!
