It’s no secret that Louisville has some amazingly delicious burgers. Of course, Grind Burger Kitchen and Mussel & Burger Bar dedicate most of their menus to serving up delicious patties, but what about other local foodie hot spots where you may overlook the understated burger?
Don’t be fooled, friends! We spent some time researching (well eating, really) the topic, and we found some totally unexpected and delectable burger options that should be on your must-try list. Next time a hamburger hankering hits, here’s where to go:
This old-school bar at the corner of Bardstown Road and Lakeside Drive has one of the best burgers we’ve ever tasted. Made on a griddle and served on a white bun, it’s plain, simple and delicious. It’s cheap, too, at a bargain price of $5.
Ollie’s Trolley is a burger joint gem in Old Louisville with prices not exceeding $3. And trust us when we say that a greasy brown paper bag never looked so good as when it contains a hot, Ollie’s Trolley bacon cheeseburger and fries. Don’t forget to get the Ollie Sauce, too!
Tucked back by the Party Mart on Brownsboro Road, Shady Lane is serious about its burgers. In fact, the sign out front proudly proclaims “Best Burger in Louisville.” Who knew? The Brownsboro Burger is delicious, juicy, simple and affordable at only $5.50. And it kind of reminded us of the Kern’s Korner burger.
Eiderdown has a very unique menu, but one thing is for certain: their Nachburger, for $10.50, is absolutely delicious! Served with a side of fries and dressed with lettuce, tomato, onion and white cheddar made by Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese, this was one burger we will be eating again.
Hammerheads features burger options galore! Choose from venison, chorizo, Angus beef and elk … you pick the meat, they make the burger! There are also plentiful cheese options, and you can get it all on a pretzel bun. A basic Angus cheeseburger starts at $8, without any bells and whistles, and the prices increase from there.
Yes, Jack Fry’s is famous for its burger, so, of course, we had to add it to the list (and, of course, we had to try it for ourselves!). But in case you haven’t experienced this juicy burger, then make a reservation and make it happen. Make sure you add the bacon, too!
Napa is known for its great appetizers and wine list, but almost unnoticed on the menu is the rib eye burger. We’re shouting about it from the rooftops now, though! Served with Habagardil pickles, Dijon mustard and your choice of cheese, this burger is divine. And it’s big, too, making it knife- and fork-worthy. Get it for $11.95.
So move past the turkey and get out on the town for one of these amazing burgers. And make sure you tell them you read about it on StyleBlueprint.
