Recently, we polled some of our FACES of Louisville to see what beauty products they were loyal to and which ones they loved. It’s always nice to get recommendations from people that love their products and have used them because it takes the guesswork out of what to buy. Here are some of our top picks, based on this poll.

SKIN
Clarisonic
StyleBlueprint has been recommending the Clarisonic for years, as a monthly find, as a gift and as a must have item. It is one of most effective facial cleaners on the market. Lauri Arnold and Stephanie Wetzstein both listed it as one of their favorites.

Clarisonic Mia 2 comes in many colors.
Daily Cleanser
According to Natalie Officer, Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads are “easy to take with you, and you feel like a million bucks with a completely clean face. Clean skin can be as empowering as a full fancy face.”

These Aveeno Daily Cleansing Pads are good for on the go.
Skin Regime
Across the board, Oil of Olay is used by a lot of women, especially Kelly Zellers (Regenerist Serum) and Stephanie White (Moisturizer). It is economical and effective, perfect for a busy woman.

Treatments
Skinceuticals CE Ferulic Acid , which Kara Mohr has used daily for eight years.
FOUNDATION
Lots of recommendations for MAC Studio Fix foundation, primer and powder foundation. Sadiqa Reynolds and Judge Erica Lee Williams love this product. This quote is my favorite from Jacqui Van Ham: “I CANNOT live without my MAC Studio Fix. You’ll pull it from my cold, dead hands. Perfect powder foundation, and doesn’t make my acne prone skin break out … yes, ACNE- at 39 years of age, ugh.”

CONCEALER
Concealer was a big category on the favorites list. Here are three to try:
Lemon Aid Concealer from Benefit.
“It’s a yellow concealer that I use on my eye lids and it takes away the darkness. It also works great on blemishes. Never would have imagine a yellow tinted anything would work as a concealer.” — Louise Breen

Amazing Concealer
According to Kara Mohr, this is a “wonder product.”
Cle de Peau Concealer
This concealer is worth the $70 price tag, according to Donna Barton Brothers.

LIPS
When I polled these ladies about beauty products, I specifically asked if they change their lipstick and nail polish out for fall and winter. The responses were funny and enlightening.
The No’s:
“No on the lipstick change. I am a basic girl. I don’t even change my closet out with the season change.” Sadiqa Reynolds
“As far as lip color, I prefer to stay neutral all year as I paint my eyes like a drag queen and don’t want to look like a throw back to the 80’s show Dynasty.” Marian Sang
“Not only do I not change with the seasons, I don’t change with the decades.” This from Lara MacGregor, who has been wearing Clinique’s Black Honey since 11th grade.
The Yes’s:
It was an even split amongst the ladies, half changed to warmer or deeper tones for lipstick, the others did not change at all. Of the ones that changed lipsticks, so many were red devotees, especially Anne Kordes and Terri Weber.
The greatest recommendation for a red lipstick was actually from someone that does NOT change their lipstick with the seasons. She wears red year ’round and her pick was so compelling that I listed it below. Natalie Officer: “Lipstick is a must. One color year round. Rock it with nothing else or a great tan. Gifted from the dearest of friends and I fell in love: Chanel #38 La Fascinante”

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Color, #38 Fascinante.
Lip Gloss
Shane Shaps and Erica McDowell love the Zen SKYN lip glosses available online or at SKYN Lounge.

NAILS
Like lipstick, people either paint their nails religiously or not. Again there were a lot of votes for classic red and this was the favorite, OPI Classic Red.
There were also many suggestions of favorite colors for fall and winter and here is a big nail color collage. These recommendations came from Kelly Zellers, Alli Truttmann, Marian Sang, Kenya Turner, and Kara Mohr.

From L to R: Essie Licorice, OPI Give Me Moor, Chanel Vamp, OPI How Great is Your Dane, Essie Smokin’ Hot, Sally Hansen Commander in Chic, OPI Ice-Bergers and Fries, OPI Jade is the New Black and OPI Russian Navy
BROWS
The Bobbi Brown eye brow shaper is the favorite product of Anne Kordes right now (besides her red nails and lips).
HAIR
Super Salono Blow Dryer
According to the professional hairstylist, Marian Sang, she has ” … used this dryer for 20 years. In fact I love it so much that every styling station is equipped with a Salono dryer. Do not get the “Lite” version! We carry them at Omagi but it can be found online as well — but I do extend the one year warranty to two years [at Omagi Salon Spa). They will last much longer with home use.”
Hairspray
What does Elizabeth Woolsey, the news anchor with perfect hair, use on her hair? Elnett Hairspray by L’oreal.
Thank you to all the ladies who so willingly shared their favorite products. With all this great advice, now we can take the guesswork out of buying beauty products.
