Cargo opened in April 2012 and I’m embarrassed to admit that I finally made my way over there a couple weeks ago. Located just over the tracks on Frankfort Avenue in an old house, this boutique contains home decor and clothing. My favorite part about this boutique is seeing what my fellow transplanted Texan, owner Holli Pauly, has done with the place. She has made or decorated every part of the store herself and she is truly talented. Pinterest has nothing on her.
First the clothes:
Cargo has a little bit of everything: tops, dresses, shoes, boots, handbags, jewelry, jeans, bath products and scarves.
Brands include Free People, Matt Bernson shoes, Talulah, Cecelia Prado (from the House of Missoni) and Nightcap.
Unobtrusively scattered throughout the store are home decor gems and accessories.
Holli has a great eye and is very artistic. She and her husband made everything in the store.
This is not your average dressing room.
Along the wall in the back of the store is an awning made of corrugated metal and burlap under which light fixtures hang. This is a stunning installation.
Even the clothes tags have a special re-purposed home.
Holli made this clothing stand out of an old machine.
Holli has been thinking of names for this store since she was 17 years old. Cargo seemed like the perfect name to her because she could expand the store into any direction (i.e. men’s clothing) with it. “It is everything.” Truly, she is right.
Cargo is located at 2123 Frankfort Avenue. To learn more, click here.
