I went to lunch at Cake Flour without even touching a treat. True story.
Because whenever I think about Cake Flour, I think about this:
But, Cake Flour is more than just desserts. It has breakfast and lunch as well.
In their new location off Lime Kiln Lane, they have a sit-down cafe. You order at the counter and get your food to go or eat right there.
My husband and a friend joined me for lunch last week. None of us had been to the new location. There is a special lunch menu with Soup of the Day, Muffin of the Day and Sandwiches made on their own house made croissant. While there, we enjoyed some of Cake Flour’s daily soup specials: Potato Bacon and Carrot Tomato.
Breakfast includes Cinnamon Rolls, Schmuffins, Scone of the Day, Muffin of the Day, Vegan Fruit Bars and Bacon and Egg Biscuit Sandwiches. On our visit, the breakfast-baked-good-of-the-day was Hot Cross Buns with cardamom.
We also ordered the Egg Salad Sandwich and the Ham & Kenny’s Swiss with Pesto. The ham sandwich is the chef’s favorite, because the pesto is something you can eat “by the spoonful.” After sampling this sandwich, we see why.
All sandwiches are served with olive oil potato chips and a choice of Napa cabbage coleslaw or quinoa tabbouleh. Both sides are great and of course, the chips are too.
Next time I return, I’m heading straight to this counter:
