After staring at the paper-shrouded windows for what seemed like months, the new Anthropologie store at Oxmoor Mall was unveiled last week to a throng of eager shoppers and supporters. It did not disappoint. It is one of the lovelier Anthropologie stores that I have visited, complete with refurbished wood floors and original art installations.
All in all, I took 184 pictures that night. I was so busy snapping pictures, talking to friends and standing with my mouth agape, that I neglected to shop for myself. Considering the wait time for the dressing room was one hour long and the checkout line was running about 30 minutes long, I decided my shopping could wait for a less harried time.
My friend and I arrived about 10 minutes early to find a people waiting at the front door.
The visual design of this store is fantastic. It is a big space (the former Z Galerie) that has been divided up into separate vignettes.
Art installations mixed with Anthropologie home products and clothes create seamless merchandising.
For those of us who have been living through the catalogs, it was so much better to see these clothes and home accessories in person. Here is a sampling of my favorite clothing items. Granted, it was so crazy that I’ll have to do another run-through soon.
Home goods are my favorite here.
The Thursday night opening was a hit. I have heard from my spies that Friday, the official opening day, was equally busy.
I will be back, Anthropologie. Louisvillians are so excited you are here!
