March in Atlanta is a tough time for dressing — sometimes it’s still freezing cold; other times it rains and is miserably wet. However, since Punxsutawney Phil didn’t see his shadow this year, we’re going to dress like spring is quickly on its way to save us from our dowdy layers and chunky, clunky sweaters. March welcomes Atlantans to take their first steps outside without being covered head to toe, and therefore there are a LOT of events happening in our fair city.

For the month, we decided to celebrate a gamut of different activities, so you can pull out those items that haven’t been getting a lot of face time (why, hello duck boots!) or, better yet, send you to some fabulous stores to replenish and update your closets. Have we piqued your curiosity yet? Then head to the truly astounding Cirque du Soleil’s Kurios — Cabinet of Curiosities. Grab a pint later and celebrate all things Irish at the Atlanta St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Finally, raise your appreciation of the arts by attending Atlanta Ballet’s 20|20 Visionary event. Whether you’re planning on attending one of these events or all three, here are a few ideas of what to wear.

The Event: Cirque du Soleil’s Kurios Cabinet of Curiosities

  • March 3 to 27, 2016, at Atlantic Station
  • Tickets start at $35 and prices vary based on selected seating
  • Details on the Cirque du Soleil website

Cirque du Soleil always puts on a fabulous show, and their newest iteration steps into a world of mind-bending perspectives and altered realities. Kurios follows the story of an inventor who fully distorts what the human mind and body are truly capable of. Audience members feel like they’re falling down a rabbit hole of disjointed, yet stunning, perspectives.

What to wear: Hmmm, what to wear to the wild and wacky world of Kurios? With a show so far outside the box, you really have the freedom to dress in whatever makes you look and feel gorgeous, which is why we chose Hello Gorgeous Boutique & Café in Chamblee. Owner Kim Frederickson is super friendly and will become your personal stylist when looking for that perfect ensemble. We went dark and sparkly, light and bohemian and optical-illusion retro when pulling looks for Kurios.

The Event: Atlanta St. Patrick’s Day Parade

  • Saturday, March 12, 2016, 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Rain or shine (pack an umbrella to be safe)
  • Starts on Peachtree Street (near 15th Street) in Midtown
  • “Green Your Soles” before the parade at 9:30 a.m. for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade 5K (starts and finishes around Peachtree and 8th streets)

This event dates back to 1858, making it one of Atlanta’s oldest (and best) traditions. If you are Irish, love celebrating all things Irish, love wearing the color green or just love a parade, Atlanta’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is THE event to attend. This free, family-friendly event spares no expense in its pursuit of entertaining the city and celebrating a great holiday — this year, paradegoers can see Irish dancers, drill teams, bagpipe and drum corps, and much more. Those looking to burn off the inevitable green beer can “Green Your Soles!” at the 2nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade 5K, which starts before the parade at 9:30 a.m. (All race finishers over 21 receive a free draft Guinness Nitro IPA or Blonde from Fado Irish Pub.)

What to wear: Whether you’re running the 5K or just want to cheer on those ridiculously light-footed Irish dancers at the parade, green MUST be a part of any proper St. Patrick’s Day ensemble. We visited High Country Outfitters at Ansley Mall since they have our favorite outdoor gear that’s not only comfortable, but really cute. Every outfit we pulled is a great look you could wear even after the parade ends, during your pursuit of the perfect St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

Atlanta Ballet’s 20|20 Visionary is a project that pays tribute to the diversity of our city and honors our differences by combining cultures in various artistic measures. For a few hours, ticketholders experience the wonderful talent of Atlanta’s best dancers, directed by talented choreographers and accompanied by amazing musicians, composers and even spoken word artist, Marc Bamuthi Joseph.

What to wear: An event that celebrates Atlanta’s finest dancers and artists needs to be met with just-as-fabulous clothing. Enter Buckhead’s Tulipano, a designer boutique that not only carries drool-worthy brands like DVF, Milly and Tibi, among others, but will help you create the perfect look with its super-helpful styling team. We could only go with three looks, but we were dying to add so many more dresses (with coordinating accessories of course) from Tulipano’s amazing racks.
