Do you feel that? February is almost here, and love is definitely in the air. As the temperatures dip, why not grab your love or a group of your gal pals (Galentine’s Day, anyone?) and check out some of the city’s best events for the month! As always, we’re here to recommend some outfits to get you looking your best, no matter what event you choose. In fact, we recommend all three! Start at the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival for some international cinema, take a stroll through history at Love Stories of Oakland at Oakland Cemetery, and enjoy A Valentine’s Romance at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Here are some options for what to wear to each.
The Event: Atlanta Jewish Film Festival
- The festival is going on now until February 17, 2016. Full schedule here
- Advance tickets can be purchased online.
- Learn more about the history of the event, ticket prices and 2016 movies and more by visiting the website.
The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival showcases international cinema that explores identity, history and culture. Founded in 2000, the festival has grown by leaps and bounds each year, officially becoming the largest Jewish film festival in the world in 2015. Check out the 2016 schedule to get tickets and enjoy some thought-provoking films!
What to Wear: For this casual event, we chose Villa Savannah in the new Westside Ironworks building. The Savannah favorite recently brought a new location to Atlanta, and besides fashion-forward styles, they also have a great selection of housewares and great gift ideas!
The Event: Love Stories of Oakland at Oakland Cemetery
- Saturday, February 13, through Sunday, February 14, 2016, 3 to 5 p.m.
- Tickets are only available online and in advance. Adults cost $16, students and seniors 65+ are $10 (with valid ID), Historic Oakland Foundation members are $6.
- More information and tickets are available online.
Romantics, history buffs or anyone who enjoys a good story will adore Love Stories of Oakland, a walking tour of Atlanta’s historic Oakland Cemetery. Enjoy a late afternoon stroll, stopping along the way for stories retelling the days and great loves of past Atlantans. Perfect for all ages, spend your weekend getting a listen to some of Atlanta’s most romantic histories.
What to Wear: For a fashionable, yet toasty selection, we checked out fab’rik for the elusive “chic-yet-still-warm” statement. We were not disappointed — with 17 locations in Georgia, find the one that’s closest to you! We headed to the Atlantic Station location. Word to the wise? They have a selection of wines so you can sip and shop, a perfect combination!
The Event: A Valentine’s Romance at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
- The event is Valentine’s Day weekend, the evenings of February 12 through 14, 2016
- It is part of the Pops Series.
- Tickets range from $20 to $70, depending on seats and the night of the show.
Is there anything better at setting the mood than music? If you’re stumped for the perfect Valentine’s date night, we suggest looking no further than A Valentine’s Romance at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for an evening full of love songs and duets. Jazz guitarist and bandleader John Pizzarelli will be joining the ASO, and for an extra romantic treat, Jessica Molasky, John’s wife, will join as a special guest. Grab your tickets and a hand to hold for when the curtain goes up!
What to Wear: For romance, symphony style, we checked out Vinings mainstay Sandpiper. With a selection of the fashion world’s top labels, without the overwhelming department store vibe, it will be tough to narrow your choice down to just one look.
Whether you choose one event or all three, we wish you a February full of love! And for more ideas of where to go this month, read our February Happenings article!
