Featuring the loveliest, coolest homes in Atlanta is a passion we at StyleBlueprint love to share with our readers. It’s that guilty pleasure you take when a new friend invites you over to her house for the first time — you get to see how other people use design to reflect their own taste and aesthetic.
But that got us thinking — what about the people who don’t own a home? Surely we can take a glimpse into some rad apartments with just as impressive décor ideas. And that’s when we discovered The Office.
Yes, I said that right. The Office is actually The Apartments. An amazing, 21-floor building that opened last October smack in downtown Atlanta, right next to Hilton Atlanta (so close in fact, that they share the same parking garage). The Office apartments, named for the fact that this super gorgeous building had always been used for downtown office space, offers some enviable amenities unique to Atlanta. And the building keeps “the office” theme going throughout many of the shared spaces, including art paying homage to office culture — vintage typewriters in the mailroom, art installations made entirely of pencils and similar materials, a GIGANTIC desk lamp illuminating the life-size chess board (you read that right) and much more.
Speaking of The Office’s unique terrace, let’s get into the jaw-dropping, super modern property amenities. The Office apartments take what are normally awesome amenities, like an on-site, 24-hour fitness center, and brings them to a whole other level, as in that aforementioned gym offers a yoga/spin/group exercise class that uses the Wellbeats, a virtual fitness presentation where you get to choose from hundreds of classes at the push of a button.
Prefer to hang out rather than work out? The Office’s game lounge is loaded with activities for the young and the young at heart — billiards, shuffleboard, old-school arcade game table, public iMacs, coffee lounge and, get this, not one but two soundproof recording pods. Take a few steps outside and play chess on a massive board (lit by that desk lamp), prepare a dinner al fresco at the outdoor kitchen (with running water, refrigerator, etc.), then cool off at the pristine pool complete with semiprivate cabanas. The other outdoor living space includes a dog run, two grilling stations and more.
Other highlights that made my day include bike storage and a repair station, Pressbox (24-hour dry cleaning concierge service), 24-hour secured access for package pickup/delivery (which anyone who has lived in a large apartment building knows how valuable it is not to rely on the front office hours) and the piece de resistance — an indoor dog spa and playroom!
The individual apartments live up to the property’s modern vibe with a cool, industrial feeling. Exposed duct work and concrete, as well as massive ceilings, create a lofty space overlooking some of the best views in Atlanta. When I toured the penthouses, you could see clear across the city to Stone Mountain and Kennesaw Mountain, with lots of landmarks in between. In fact, you forget how lush and green Atlanta really is while stuck in deplorable traffic until you get a few hundred feet in the air.
Residents choose between lofts on floor one, one- and two-bedroom units throughout the building and towering two-bedroom penthouses on floor 21. Each floor plan has its own unique style bonuses — the lofts have outdoor spaces with built-in gas grills, and penthouses have access to a private, floor-level mini bar/coffee bar. But the standard apartment features in every unit are astounding: quartz and granite countertops, wine/beverage coolers, stainless steel appliances, washers and dryers, USB wall ports … here’s the one I like best (besides the wine refrigerators and kitchen islands) — the in-dwelling wireless entertainment system with built-in, hidden speakers. These units are made for entertaining a crowd. And those of you who have a shoe fetish like myself will appreciate the “lazy susan-esque” shoe rack I spotted in the penthouse units.
And this is the detail that will really solidify the fact that I want to move into The Office very soon — there are plans to share the Hilton’s room service with residents in some type of capacity. That’s like the dream everyone mentions after staying at a great hotel — wishing for room service in everyday life.
The fabulous features and industrial beauty of The Office go on and on — we just wish our actual office, or home for that matter, were just as cool!
