Given Facebook’s recent data breaches, Instagram is even closer to becoming the most preferred social network. The photo-sharing app has dedicated followers (your customers!) and has won the hearts of business owners with consistently innovative feature releases. That said, it can be tough to keep up with every single Instagram update!
SB Media is here to help with a roundup of the latest new features:
Timeliness of posts
In a press release yesterday, Instagram promised to “ensure that newer posts are more likely to appear first in the feed.” This is great news for small businesses that feared their latest posts weren’t being seen before!
“See New Posts” button (coming soon)
Along the same lines, Instagram is also rolling out a “see new posts” button. This means that your feed will no longer auto-refresh each time you open the app. Users will be able to choose whether they want to pick up where they left off in their photo feed or they can tap a button to refresh their feed to the newest posts.
Add linkable hashtags and @accounts to your profile
If you have multiple Instagram accounts, you can now link to your other accounts and to hashtags in your profile. This is a great way to promote multiple business lines and to remind your followers to use your branded hashtags. Note: you can only link to hashtags and accounts within Instagram; the only external link allowed is the one you enter in the company website field in your profile setup.
Instagram also added that “over the next few months, we’ll be sharing more about improvements we’re making to the feed.”
SB Media will keep you updated as new features are announced!
