When it comes to the laws of attraction, Stephanie Newton and Ed Bedard have definitely done their homework. Literally. These two young lawyers met and fell in love while attending law school. As they planned for their futures in the legal field, they also planned their future to be in each other’s lives until death do they part.

Stephanie Newton and Ed Bedard tied the knot on August 6, 2016, almost exactly three years after the first day they met.

Stephanie spends a few moments with her family before she walks down the aisle.

Ed, originally from Barrington, Illinois, and Stephanie, from Atlanta, met while studying at the University of Virginia School of Law. He proposed on Easter morning last year and made it a family affair — coordinating parents, siblings and law school friends to help celebrate the engagement with lots of love and joy. The couple knew they wanted to practice law in Atlanta, so before they could tie the knot, they spent the next year-and-a-half finishing school, graduating and taking the bar exam … oh, and planning a wedding!

The couple got married on August 6, 2016, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Midtown, the church Stephanie grew up attending. About 225 guests lovingly watched as Ed and Stephanie exchanged vows at the altar where the couple, along with Stephanie’s grandmother and the church rector, actually served communion to the participating guests. But before the ceremony began, the couple took a few minutes for themselves and read handwritten notes to each other.

Located right in the heart of Midtown is All Saints’ Episcopal Church, a gorgeous edifice with bold, gothic architecture, juxtaposed with neighboring modern skyscrapers.

Stephanie grew up attending All Saints’ and now is able to mark another milestone at her church as she goes from Miss to Mrs.

The regal ceremony site at All Saints’ is beyond photogenic. Every guest looking out at Stephanie and Ed were treated to an emotionally and visually stunning wedding.

As a way of taking a few minutes for themselves and remembering what all this is for, Stephanie and Ed exchanged private, handwritten notes to each other before the ceremony began.

Perhaps it’s the pragmatic lawyers in them (or a brilliant wedding planner’s idea) but the couple once again made sure to take a few minutes for themselves before their grand entrance at the reception at Piedmont Driving Club. They enjoyed a brief dinner together alone, as a married couple, reflecting on their new life together joined as one. As the guests got ready to party during the cocktail hour, Ed and Stephanie again took stock of the romantic moments that had just passed and still awaited them.

Guests entered an elegant room featuring blues, greys and gold with wonderful flowers featuring blue and white hydrangeas dotting the space. And as they took in the lovely floral arrangements, guests also enjoyed the seated dinner and, of course, the desserts. The wedding cake featured lemon mousseline and raspberry filling with a cream cheese frosting; the groom’s cake (in the shape of a Lagavulin scotch barrel) was chocolate with Irish cream and toffee filling — with fondant cigars and a fondant scotch bottle on top.

Stephanie says, “We chose a color palette of blues, greys and gold for our wedding and hoped to set a tone of understated elegance and classic tradition. We worked with our florist to center the floral arrangements around blue and white hydrangeas in varying shades of color.”

The seven bridesmaids, including her two sisters, Amanda and Natalie, who served as co-maids of honor, wore lovely bluish-grey, one-shoulder gowns.

Before Ed and Stephanie mingled with all their friends and family, they only had eyes for each other during their first dance: Sam Cooke’s “You Send Me.” Then of course, everyone at the party flooded the dance floor and christened the event with some sweet dance moves, thanks to the fantastic band, Atlanta Groove Factory.

“My favorite part of the day was the sheer joy I felt marrying my best friend,” says Stephanie. “We were and still are so honored that so many people came to celebrate us!”

The only thing to do after such a fairytale wedding is to throw loads of confetti at the happy couple!

As the couple has settled into life as a married, law-practicing couple, they will always have their wonderful wedding memories to look back on — a day that celebrated how their love of the law brought them the loves of their lives.
