Are you eyeing a new pair of sunglasses for the spring and summer? Let’s face it, we clock a lot of time behind our shades. This splurge-worthy accessory shields us from the sun’s harmful rays and from needing to wear eye makeup, so some careful pre-purchase consideration is in order to ensure that our sunnies are making the right statement for us. To help round up the best of the best, I visited the Eclectic Eye, a full-service eyewear boutique, at their Collierville location where Manager Kyra Condo helped us prepare to look on the bright side this spring. If one of these pairs become the apple of your eye, but you don’t live in Memphis, don’t dispair! they’ll gladly ship them to you. I’ve also included some online shopping options inspired by Kyra’s picks. To shop, simply click on the images that note online availability.
Best Blast from the Past:
Kyra cautions us that when shopping bargain frames, always pay attention to the UVA/UVB protection offered. Just because sunglasses may shade your eyes from the sun given that they are tinted, it does not mean that they are actually protecting your eyes! Good news for all glasses wearing gals, most of the stylish frames offered at the Eclectic Eye can be fitted with your prescription lenses, too!
So you’ve settled on the perfect pair, here’s how to keep them shining bright and working for you all year long:
- Always clean them using a microfiber towel and cleaning solution. Even your softest t-shirt will scratch them.
- Don’t keep them in a hot car. The heat will ruin your lenses over time.
- The golden rule in eyewear care: “If they’re not on your face, put them in their case” (not on your head like a headband as so many of us are guilty of!); however, if your shades get sprung, the Eclectic Eye does offer tune-ups to get yours back in shape.
The Eclectic Eye offers two Memphis locations and their Facebook photo updates will make your eyes light up. It will be hard to pick just one pair! Thank you, Kyra for enlightening us by showcasing these spectacular shades for spring and summer.
