We love discovering and exploring each year’s Pantone Color of the Year. 2019 was the year of a playful, pinky coral (see last year’s article here), and lucky for us, the 2020 color is a gorgeous classic blue that is easy to bring into your wardrobe. Today, we’re spotlighting easy ways to incorporate this dusk-inspired color (and it’s similar shades) into your everyday wear. And these pieces can be worn through the cold weather and beyond. Here’s how to wear 2020’s Pantone Color of the Year!
JACKETS & TOPS
This year’s color of the year turns a simple tank, blouse or blazer into a flattering statement piece. Here, we’ve rounded up a few of our current favorite items that either mirror the Classic Blue shade or act as a close relative. Whether you’re in the market for a sophisticated blazer, soft blouse, warm sweater or trench or a rich-colored tank that can be worn for both work and play, consider opting for shades of blue this year!
We love this darker blue blazer ($218) for its on-trend yet elevated cuffed sleeves. The breezy blouse ($89) in a brighter blue can be dressed up or down, making it the ultimate day-to-night piece. On the other hand, this warm turtleneck (on sale for $58.80) and versatile cardigan ($198) will keep you warm through these final few weeks of winter, and the jewel-toned tank ($59) would look beautiful tucked into some pants or a flowy skirt. Top off any look with this blue steel-colored trench ($180) for an added touch of fashionable fun.
BOTTOMS & DRESSES
If you’d rather go for a fun skirt, statement pant or flattering dress as spring (and wedding season) rolls around, the Pantone Color of the Year makes a splash across all these fashion-forward pieces. And best of all, these shades of blue flatter any skin tone or hair color.
This high-low silk skirt ($62) is a closet addition you won’t regret. Don this for date night, an evening out with the girls or an elegant work event to stay on-trend and stylish. The midi, cap sleeve eyelet dress ($159) is sweet and flirty, ideal for your upcoming beach trip, and these work-appropriate trousers ($170) and pencil skirt ($248) are great pieces to add to your workwear wardrobe. We’re also obsessing over this striped v-neck dress ($248) as the perfect wedding ensemble or night-out piece.

If you tend to go for more neutral ensembles, you are not alone. In this case, accessories like shoes, earrings or a purse are great pieces for adding interest and color to an otherwise simple look. We’ve pulled a gorgeous pair of heels (on sale for $44.48) that are perfect for a night out and a velvet headband ($28 and one of the year’s biggest accessory trends) great for holding hair back while adding color to your outfit. The statement earrings (on sale for $32.40) are just right for the upcoming warm weather (we’re picturing them with a simple white top, beachy skirt and sandals), while this lightweight linen scarf ($35) is a fantastic item to have while traveling or hitting the beach. Go bold with this bright purse ($295), and stay on-trend with these tie-dye-inspired slide-on mules ($147.95).
We hope you have enjoyed seeing how we’re styling this year’s Pantone color. Happy shopping!
