Start your weekend knowing you’re stepping up your wardrobe game! If you read our latest fashion article, 8 Wardrobe Musts Every Closet Needs (to simply work better), you may want to go ahead and order some items … as in now. And, read to the end for our biggest wardrobe cheap thrill PLUS the link to a favorite recipe blogger that we think you’ll love, too.

1) Black and white striped tops

As we explained in yesterday’s article, you’ll likely want this top in several different options: more black than white, a wider white stripe, a wider black stripe, a sweater option, a v-neck option, a longer option … it’s all good as this category of top — black and white striped — goes with so many different options and you’ll look polished and fabulous … yes, always.

2) White button down

There are so many tweaks to a white button down, and depending on your bust and shoulders, you’ll need to try several on. That said, this one brand for the white button down shirt works for many and is a great one to have on hand:

white-button-down
Brooks Brothers’ no-iron button down is a classic favorite. We’re all in favor of having a few white button downs … just make sure one of them is this one as you don’t want all of yours needing an iron, right?! $98 or two for $165 | Details here

3) Leopard shoes

With their neutral pattern, leopard shoes are the perfect shoe to have on hand that will go with almost everything in your closet.

4) Chambray shirt

Just like the white button down, there are many options. But, the one I personally like best is from J Crew — both the lighter and darker versions. Each comes in petite, regular and tall because they are such customer favorites.

5) Camel blazer

Yes, you really want a black blazer, but as explained in yesterday’s fashion article, where we specifically talked about eight wardrobe items that will make your clothes simply work better together, the camel blazer has lots of flexibility and it’s an item most women will want to consider adding to their wardrobe options … and one many don’t have.

7) An all-season gray or navy dress

For a dress that is the absolutely most versatile, pick gray or navy. You’ll be able to wear it to a luncheon meeting, church, a wedding, a baptism and a funeral. You can dress it up for a cocktail party or add a jean jacket and boots for something more low-key. These colors just give you a wee bit more flexibility than black (but then buy a black one, too, okay?!).

8) Dark rinse jeans

By all means, have lots of jeans. They are the American staple, are they not? But, the one that works for almost all occasions, when others won’t, year-round, is the dark rinse jean. Yes, you can shop the high-end brands, but for dark rinse, lower-priced jeans can look super high-end … save your money for the other washes.
