With calendars chock-full of holiday parties, date nights and jovial gatherings, ladies aren’t the only ones struggling to find appropriate seasonal attire. Indeed, sometimes it can be challenging to find something stylish yet comfortable for men to wear, too. We’re here to help!
We’ve put together three complete ensembles to help men tackle any upcoming holiday occasion, so feel free to send this to the guy you love who might need a little assistance and style inspiration. From classic, casual, day-to-day wear to elevated formal pieces that are sure to impress, these looks will get him through the season in style. Here are three complete holiday looks for him.
The Casual Look
For any winter casual look, it’s important to layer. This ensures warmth outdoors and comfort in. Start with a sturdy, neutral base, such as a light sweater or henley. Then, add another texture with a light jacket, accompanied by a thicker jacket to stay cozy. Pair the look with a darker colored jean or a neutral-toned chino pant. To finish off the ensemble, add a nice leather boot or sneaker, and he’ll be ready to head out the door!
This striped cardigan sweater ($145) from Billy Reid is a perfect piece that he’ll be able to use for any occasion, as it’s easy to dress the sweater up or down. We love the striped pop of color, as well. For this specific everyday look, we’re layering the Topman Oversize Shirt Jacket ($70) and the L.L. Bean Original Field Coat ($179), which are highly versatile casual wear staples. For pants, we’re going with neutral-green chinos from Brooks Brothers ($118). We’ve rounded out the look with Chelsea Boots from Cole Haan ($150).
The Elevated Holiday Party Ensemble
When attending a more sophisticated holiday party, such as a friend’s winter soireé or a traditional New Year’s Eve gathering, he’ll need a simple, yet elevated look. With that in mind, we’ve pulled together an outfit that will surely make everyone at the party do a double-take.
Since this is a more put-together look, we’ve decided to bring in a simple white button-down ($195) layered with the everyday cashmere sweater ($118) from J.Crew. To mix things up a bit, we’ve added in a patterned windowpane pant ($238) that is sure to impress (or if the pattern is too much, you can switch these suggested pants out with a solid color chino — just remember to keep it in the earth-tone family). If you’re looking to invest in a quality crafted jacket, we recommend you go with this sleek waxed jacket from Barbour ($415). The quality of the jacket is definitely represented in the price, but he’ll be able to rock this classically designed coat for years to come. For the finishing touch, we went with a crowd favorite, the original Wallabee Boot from Clarks ($150).
The “Dress to Impress” Attire
If he is attending a sophisticated holiday gathering or simply looking to impress coworkers at this year’s company Christmas party, we’ve put together an ensemble that will show he’s ready for the occasion without screaming “formal attire.” We decided to keep this outfit as simple as possible, adding various textured elements to keep the look interesting. Plus, with a phenomenal camel coat (which, in our opinion, is a timeless winter staple), along with a white button-up shirt with just the right amount of color, he’ll be ready to rock around town in his newest holiday fit.
For this look, we’re sticking with a classic button-down ($140, on sale for $84), paired with a simple charcoal pant ($225) that’s tied together with a handsome camel coat from Topman ($200). For the shoes, we’re going with the stylish Chelsea Boots from Cole Haan ($200).
