Every day you’re juggling one million and one tasks, including social media marketing for your business. Here are three quick and easy metrics to watch to ensure you are putting your time to good use.
1. Page likes or following increases – Arguably the most well-known and touted social media metric. Increases in page likes or followers are an indicator that people are seeing and enjoying your content.
2. Engagement – Page likes and follows are good, but post engagement is much better. What good does it do to have lots of followers if no one is commenting, sharing or liking your content? If your post gets 15 likes, 10 comments and 3 shares, you received 28 engagements on the post. Your most popular posts will have the highest engagement numbers and are great indicators of the type of content your audience likes.
3. Audience – Use built-in analytics to see who is engaging or following your social content. Does your following match up with key audiences for your business in terms of gender and age? If not, consider changing up your content and take a look at the time of day you are posting.
Scope out the competition – Seeing what competing brands are doing on social media is never a bad idea. It could spur great ideas for content or ensure that you are creating posts that differentiate your brand in a positive way.
Track your progress – You can’t see how you are growing if you don’t know where you started! Begin the process of tracking your progress by making a quick note of how many followers you have and the number of engagements on your most popular posts. Mark your calendar and check your metrics each month.
