The adorable clothes hanging in the windows, the delicious aromas wafting through the cafe, even the fabulous logo are enough to draw you in to Hello Gorgeous! Boutique & Cafe. However, it’s owner Kim Fredrickson’s unwavering optimism and bubbly personality that really entice you to visit this one-of-a-kind Chamblee establishment.

Welcome to Chamblee’s own little slice of retail heaven, Hello Gorgeous! Boutique & Cafe!

Kim Fredrickson

This is owner Kim Fredrickson — she loves meeting her customers, so make sure to introduce yourself when you stop by Hello Gorgeous.

“This store is all about celebrating your gorgeous,” says Kim, who opened the food and retail hybrid spot in October 2014. “I wanted to make a place where you can feel welcome and comfortable. I choose merchandise specifically to feel good in. It’s fun — people take fashion too seriously, and I just want to be playful and fun.”

It’s hard not to smile when perusing the racks of clothing, displays of jewelry and accessories, and the extensive makeup counter full of natural face and body products. The eclectic shop carries lovely pieces that are cheerful, whimsical and, most importantly, make you feel good. And the best part is that many of the designers and artisans she promotes and sells are based right here in Atlanta or the surrounding region. For example, Kim’s in-house makeup artist also has her own line of organic skincare products and makeup, Wildflower Botanical, which Hello Gorgeous keeps in full stock.

Spend some time at the Hello Gorgeous makeup counter and see which new colors and trends will look great on you this season.

Hello Gorgeous carries the Wildflower Botanical line, created by the boutique’s in-house makeup artist. Great, all-natural products include the Himalayan Face and Body Scrub, $14, and the Rosewater Toner & Moisture Mist, $14.

That push for local partnerships extends beyond retail — the Hello Gorgeous cafe is fully stocked with Atlanta-made items and ingredients, including bread from Chamblee’s Best Bread Baking Co., almond butter from Georgia Grinders, frozen treats from High Road Ice Cream & Sorbet and other tasty options.

And if you think Kim’s charm and enthusiastic energy is just the result of Southern upbringing, think again. This entrepreneur was born in San Francisco and lived most of her life in Northern California — she moved to Atlanta 13 years ago with her husband and kids and has been thriving here ever since.

Hello Gorgeous jewelry

Loving these necklaces from Atlanta designer Melting Sun Apparel! The honeycomb design is $38, and the elemental piece (“air”) is $39.

These photos were taken on an empty stomach and let me say, the smell of fried chicken and waffles being prepared in the Hello Gorgeous cafe made it seriously hard to concentrate.

wish pillows

When you wish upon a … pillow? Write down your wish and stuff it in these adorable hanging pillows, $27, made by a local Brookhaven artist. We love all the different patterns, as well as the lovely lavender scent.

“My mom was born in Tennessee, so I knew a little of the South,” says Kim. “But I was wide-eyed with all the beautiful trees, sweet tea, sparkling fireflies. I’m glad we moved here, because it opened my eyes to a whole other part of the country. People are just nicer here — there really is Southern hospitality.”

According to Kim, Chamblee specifically is bursting at the seams with Southern hospitality. She loves the mix of ages and tastes here, where the feeling of an ITP oasis surrounds those who have lived in Chamblee for many years and those young families and professionals putting down roots of their own in this busy community. Hello Gorgeous’ charm wins over everyone who steps inside — from the senior residents who chat with Kim over a cup of coffee in the cafe to the teens needing a lesson on makeup application and proper skincare techniques.

“It sounds corny, but I want to provide a place where people feel valued for who they are,” she says. “Not when they lose weight or dye their hair. Clothing is your armor — what you put on is how you’re going to live your day. I just want to help people celebrate their gorgeous.”

Hello Gorgeous clothing

Kim’s mission is to help women look and feel their best, and she offers a variety of styles and looks to fit almost everyone’s taste. In fact, she says that “if you can’t find something in my store, I’m more than willing to go with you and be your personal shopper.”

Hello Gorgeous gift display

You can get some seriously cute gifts at Hello Gorgeous. There’s some great Chamblee-centric wall art and swag throughout the boutique.

Hello Gorgeous purses

I love the brand PAPAYA! and got super excited upon seeing their distinct pieces, like these two large clutches, $45 each. Those rad zipper tassels alone are enough to buy both of these purses!

It’s hard to classify Hello Gorgeous, since it’s so much more than just a boutique or just a cafe. Though the merchandise is modern and chic, the style and trends are on point, and many of the products and gifts have a tongue-in-cheek vibe that’ll make anyone chuckle. It’s the easy rapport between staff and customer and the overall friendly vibe, harkening a time when everyone knew everyone, that really makes Hello Gorgeous a winner. Kim Fredrickson has created a retail and dining space where you’ll not only look good, but you’ll feel good, too.

Hello Gorgeous coasters

What’s better than coasters of your favorite authors? Punk rock versions of classic authors! We love all these different sets of coasters, $20, from Out of Print (especially the old school library card set).

Hello Gorgeous sweatshirt

This sweatshirt, $85, pretty much encompasses my mantra. Actually, is it wrong that I’d be OK with just that last one on the list?
