Times are tense, aren’t they? People are dropping off social media to avoid political conflict. The news is a total downer. And if I have to see one more mid-day mesothelioma commercial, I may just crawl under a rock.
If you’re in need of a little pick-me-up, or even just a good old-fashioned noon-time break, bookmark this page and revisit it for a few laughs. From YouTube videos, Reddit threads and funny shows to giggly gifs and laugh-out-loud memes, here is a round-up of crowd-sourced suggestions to bring a little laughter into your daily grind.
YouTube, as you likely know, is a trove of both entertainment and education. And thankfully, the viral hits live on for eternity so we can revisit them anytime we want. Here are some of our favorites to get a good laugh.
*DISCLAIMER: We don’t condone laughing at someone falling; it’s the contagious laughter of the news anchors that we find so funny.

TV SHOWS, YOUTUBE CHANNELS & PODCASTS
If you prefer a serial entertainment resource, here are some staff picks to consider.
A wealthy family loses everything and have to relocate to Schitt’s Creek. It’s a play on the saying, “up sh*t’s creek without a paddle,” and I cannot stop laughing out loud every time I watch it!

Favorite television show of all time: “The Office.” I have extreme dry humor, so this show is just hilarious to me. The characters are extremely awkward, and I’m awkward, so we bond, ya’ know? Here is my favorite scene.

“Portlandia” is a sketch comedy show starring Carrie Brownstein and Saturday Night Live alum Fred Armisen. It is a favorite of StyleBlueprint Nashville Account Executive Cindy Acuff.
I’ve been seriously enjoying Steven Hofstetter’s YouTube channel — it’s entirely devoted to clips of him confronting hecklers at his comedy shows! SUPER satisfying.

Two New York sisters host “The Morning Toast” podcast every morning at 10 a.m., and it is absolutely hilarious and so lighthearted. They cover the day’s most premium content (“the top 5 stories before you take a bite out of your morning toast”). Because they are sisters, they bounce back and forth from topic to topic in the funniest way. I turn their podcast on in the morning because it makes you feel like you’re right there in their living room with them. These two are strong, opinionated millennial women that’ll have you nodding your head in agreement to almost everything they say.

INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS & REDDIT THREADS
Instagram is filled with lots of filtery fabulous photos, but it’s also a trove of humor as well. And if you’re unfamiliar with Reddit, tiptoe into it with these funny threads.
“This is a video from my favorite Instagram comedian, Heather McMahan. She’s hilarious mostly because she’s incredibly relatable. She also posts fantastic Instagram stories daily, mostly of her jumping between juice cleanses and eating alone at taco trucks at 10 a.m. She’s recently become an Aperol Spritz influencer by sheer force of will — she tagged the company in videos of her drinking them for weeks, and they finally sent her some free stuff and now she wears Aperol swag on a daily basis. Definitely check out her Lindsey 911 series on Lindsey Lohan. You won’t regret it.”

“This Reddit thread cracks me up. The submissions are screenshots and photos of misheard phrases translated to text – Bone Apple Tea instead of Bon Appetit, for example. Worth a browse!”
— Annie Reeves, StyleBlueprint Marketing and Editorial Assistant
Celeste Barber is a comedian who, on her Instagram feed, puts a real-girl spin on celebrity pics and perfectly styled ads. This feed is a well of humor and comes highly recommended by StyleBlueprint Cofounder Liza Graves.
“I can ALWAYS find something that makes me laugh out loud on the “Contagious Laughter” thread on Reddit. Sometimes it’s just hearing other people laughing uncontrollably that gets me, and other times it’s just the inanity that makes me giggle. It’s a trove, though, for sure! Here is a personal favorite.”

MEMES, GIFS & BLOG POSTS
Sometimes you just need a quick shot of something funny — a fun pic, a quick read, a laughable gif. These suggestions scratch that itch.
This is a perennial favorite of StyleBlueprint Regional Editor Lauren Helmer. We bet you’ll find it humorous as well!

On marriage and relationships …
There are definitely relatable moments in relationships, and when someone nails those moments on the head, laughter ensues.
