Have upcoming travel plans, or perhaps you have out-of-town guests heading into town for a visit? Make sure your furry BFF feels right at home when jet setting around the South. More than ever before, Southern resorts and hotels alike are offering dog-friendly accommodations, and they’re not stopping at simply allowing Fido into your room. Instead of merely tolerating pets, these “homes away from home” are going above and beyond to make your pup feel as welcome as you do.
From beds of their own to personalized dog-friendly baked goods, these hotels are pampering pooches so much it will be hard to convince your pup to leave. Pack your bags and grab the leash — here are some of the South’s most dog-friendly accommodations!

They are welcome throughout the Relais & Chateau property as long as they are on a leash. With wooded trails, streams, ponds, gardens and more to explore, your pup is sure to be thrilled with this little slice of Smoky Mountain foothills heaven.

If your dog would prefer to join you at dinner, head to the patio at Buffalo’s, a casual spot where pets are welcome.

Destination: Nashville, Tennessee
If you and your pooch are in the market for a staycation or you have friends with fur babies looking to visit Music City, Nashville is home to several dog-friendly hotels. Here are a few to have on your radar.
Resort: 21c Museum Hotel
The art-centric hotel 21c Museum Hotel is more than just a beautiful accommodation in a historic downtown Nashville building. There’s also an animal-friendly component. While they don’t have an on-site dog park, per se, canines up to 50 lbs are welcome at this boutique hotel and get their exercise at any of the downtown greenspaces. When you call to book a room, be sure to ask for a dog-friendly room.
Resort: Hotel Preston
Located minutes from downtown Nashville, Hotel Preston recently enjoyed a complete overhaul of both property features and guest amenities — the latter of which includes a dogs-are-welcome policy. The hotel’s 1,250-square-foot Fetch dog park offers ample space for your pup to get the wiggles out while you watch, and in-room features include a pet bed, food and water bowls, and a welcome toy or treat.
Resort: The Hermitage Hotel
This historic Hermitage Hotel proudly declares itself “pet-friendly” and offers a bevy of dog-focused amenities to make everyone feel at home during their stay. Their Pampered Paws Program includes a pet welcome letter at check-in (you may have to read it to your pooch, but still …) as well as nightly pet turn-down service with mat, treats, spring water and rolled towels. When the late-night munchies hit, dial up for some special in-room dining for your dog, or after a long day exploring downtown, line up the on-call pet masseuse to pamper your pup. (Yes, seriously!)
Resort: Loews Vanderbilt Hotel
If you’re a pet lover and are not familiar with Loews’ incredible pet policy, lean in. Once you book a pet-friendly room, you’re all set for a pet experience like no other. “Loews Loves Pets” provides top-notch service for your pooch. In fact, Loews Nashville isn’t just a pet-friendly property, it’s a pet-first property. Perks include dog-walking maps, pet placemats, collars and leashes, rawhide bones, beds and more. Even better? Cat devotees, we didn’t forget about you. Cats are also welcome at Loews. They’ll even provide catnip, litter boxes, litter and scratch poles.
Safe travels to your ENTIRE family — dogs included!
