From work parties and holiday parties to galas and the theater — there’s a lot going on in Charlotte this month. It’s almost as if you need an entire wardrobe just for the holidays and all the festive activities that take place. We stopped into three local boutiques, The Cheeky Bean, K-La and Leola and Simone, to put together nine outfit ideas — with the help of local stylist Jen Grano — that’ll get you through almost any holiday affair with a little sparkle.
The Event: Charlotte Ballet’s Nutcracker
- December 3 – 23, 2016
- Tickets start at $25
- Learn more and purchase tickets at charlotteballet.org.
Enjoy a night with dancing sugarplums, elaborate costumes and great music at the Charlotte Ballet’s take on this holiday classic. This year’s show is set to be the glitziest yet, with all new costumes and sets.
What to wear: At the theater you can be as over-the-top as you want, so why not take full advantage of it and rock some sparkle and sass?! Wear an item with a lot of flash like a fun sequined skirt and temper it with a simple, yet elegant solid top. You can also put together a classic white and black outfit and top it off with flashy accessories.
The Event: Whiskey Women of Charlotte’s Holiday Soirée
- December 14, 2016
- 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Tickets are $35 and can be purchased here.
This is one of those events that is a guaranteed good time. Join the Whiskey Women of Charlotte for a soirée that is all about WHISKEY — oh, and holiday cheer (but mainly whiskey). The night will consist of small bites, whiskey-infused sweets, cocktails and goodie bags. For more information, click here.
What to wear: It’s girls’ night out! Just add whiskey, and it’s time to paaaaartay — so a Plain Jane outfit just won’t do for this fun, festive event. It’s time to pull out something that makes a statement. Sequins, color, sparkle — whatever’s fun is appropriate for this cocktail party.
The Event: Work Party
What to wear: Figuring out something to wear to a function with coworkers (and bosses!) outside of work can be daunting — especially when it’s a holiday party. To play it safe, but still look polished and holiday-esque, opt for a beautiful red or green dress that has great coverage, but also has a flirty detail like bell sleeves or a full skirt with a lot of movement. Or, a black dress is always a smart go-to option that can easily be dressed up or down with accessories depending on the formality of the event.
