April is always filled with fantastic events in Charlotte, and this year is no exception. Here are three events that we’re really, really, really (got that?!) looking forward to and outfit ideas for what to wear to each. All of the looks were found locally at The Pink Hanger, Elsa Fine or Pink Social and styled by Zebrina Stalling. Our model, Chef Leslie Schlernitzauer of Porcupine Provisions, was shot on location at the historic BonTerra Dining — both of which are participating in our first featured event, the Charlotte Food and Wine Weekend. Take a look!
The Event: Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend
- April 19-21, 2017
- Tickets start at $75
- Learn more and purchase tickets at charlottewineandfood.org.
For three days you can enjoy the best of Charlotte’s food scene and sip on award-winning wines from all over the world at the Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend (CWFW). Dinners and wine pairings will take place throughout the city at several restaurants, including Napa on Providence, Custom Shop and Fahrenheit.
What to wear: Most of the CWFW events are casual, so you’ve got a lot of options when it comes to what to wear. We like the idea of pairing a nice premium denim jean or black slacks with an elegant blouse and sparkly accessories — or even something as simple as a dainty dress and comfortable heels.
The Event: Pink Social Girl Tribe Pop Up
- April 22, 2017
- Tickets start at $10 for VIP access
- Learn more and purchase tickets at girltribepopup.com.
Grab your best friends and enjoy a day full of fun and shopping that supports local female businesses at the Girl Tribe Pop Up: Spring Break Edition. More than 60 local vendors will be on hand at Sugar Creek Brewing with incredible goods the range from jewelry and clothing to art and home decor.
What to wear: Since the event is based on lots of shopping (yay!), plan to wear something super comfortable. We suggest a simple look like jeans and a tee with comfortable flats or sandals, or an easy cotton dress that gives you plenty of room to move around.
The Event: Queen’s Cup Steeplechase
- April 29, 2017
- Tickets start at $50
- Learn more and purchase tickets at queenscup.org.
Every year thoroughbreds and jockeys race to the finish line during the Queen’s Cup Steeplechase, named one of the top six sporting events in the region. It’s both sporting event and social event as guests show off their best spring attire while enjoying an entire day full of tailgating and horse racing.
What to wear: This event calls for bright colors, sundresses, bow ties, big hats and everything that makes you think of the Kentucky Derby. While it may not be Churchill Downs, the Queen’s Cup Steeplechase is Charlotte’s version of a day at the races, and you’ll want to look your best. We suggest wearing a colorful sundress or maxi with fun accessories and cute sandals for comfort (you’ll be standing and walking a lot!). You can even throw on a big hat if you really want to feel like you’re at the Derby.
Happy spring and happy shopping!
