Toska Husted is the epitome of the American dream. After growing up in war-torn Kosovo, Toska left for London to train at Steiner — an exclusive institute for beauty therapy — and eventually moved to the States to open one of the South’s most successful spas in Mount Pleasant, SC. Her treatments are so popular and unique that celebrities travel from all over for her expertise and skincare advice at Toska European Spa. Recently Toska decided to open her second location in Charlotte, NC, after noticing there was a huge demand for her services — bringing the first European Spa to the Queen City. Toska sat down with us to give us the scoop on what skincare products are her personal favorites and why she chose Charlotte to open her newest location. Meet today’s FACE of Charlotte, Toska Husted.
Tell us how you got involved in skincare.
I was introduced to skincare at a very young age by my mother, who taught me that taking care of my skin is key to age prevention.
What made you decide to open your second spa location in Charlotte?
My decision to open a spa in Charlotte was a combination of my love for the city and the local demand for my services.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is the transformation I get to see in clients. Making people look good also makes them feel good, which often does wonders for their well-being and self esteem.
What’s the most important thing women can do for their skin?
The most important thing women can do for their skin is to be consistent with their skin care. A combination of custom-tailored home care regimen and “in spa” professional treatments is crucial to maintaining healthy looking skin.
What’s your favorite at-home beauty treatment?
My favorite at-home beauty treatment would be overnight masques or sleeping masks that hydrate, firm and brighten your skin while you sleep.
We know there are a ton of great products out there, but what’s the best beauty product of all time?
Best product is P50, hands down!
SB Tip: We’ve tried it and agree! It’s done wonders for our skincare regimen.
What’s the best beauty item someone should really splurge on?
Finishing serums are the secret to perfect skin. They are sophisticated and glamorous and contain botanical extracts with a variety of vitamins, antioxidants, hyaluronic acid as well as potent moisturizing and oxygenating DNA extracts. They make an excellent makeup base and prolong and protect the effects of the BR skin care products.
What’s your favorite way to relax and unwind when you actually have down time?
My favorite way to relax is to start planning my next trip. I spend a lot of time on travel sites.
Where’s your favorite place to travel?
At least once a year I try to travel to a place I’ve never been to before. I love visiting cities that are rich in history, have beautiful architecture and great shopping, of course.
We know you have only been here a few months, but what’s your favorite thing about Charlotte so far?
I love the mix of traditional and cosmopolitan, the open green spaces, the beautiful tree-lined streets. It’s an exciting time to be in Charlotte and see all the growth and the influx of young professionals ready to make Charlotte an even greater city.
What are three things you can’t live without, excluding faith, family and friends?
Music, P50 lotion and sleep.
