It’s safe to say that the month of April is one of our favorite months to live in the Queen City — spring is in the air, the sun is out longer and there’s always something going on around town. Here are 19 of our favorite events and happenings that we think you’ll really enjoy!

April 1, 2017: Ales for Autism
Join NoDa Brewery Northend for a night full of fun, live music and brews — all for a great cause at the 4th annual Ales for Autism. Local food trucks will be on-site and guests will have the chance to win several raffle prizes. Tickets start at $25 and include an event glass, coozie and pour of the brewery’s Sensory Overload 4.0. April 1, 2017: Color Vibe Run
Get colorful with friends and family at the Charlotte Color Vibe 5k Run — where you’ll have so much fun getting tagged with all sorts of colors that you won’t even realize you’re exercising! Tickets are $65. For more information, click here.
April 1, 2017: Bowling to Strike Out Child Abuse
Grab your bowling shoes (or rent them) and help in the fight against child abuse at the 2nd annual Strike Out Child Abuse fundraiser for the Kilah Davenport Foundation at Ten Park Lanes. There will be plenty of prizes, raffles and of course, lots of bowling! Bowlers are encouraged to dress in their silliest attire. For more information, click here.
April 1 & 2, 2017: Charlotte Home Show
Find inspiration for your home and garden at the Charlotte Home Show — where experts and designers will be on hand at the Convention Center to answer your questions and demonstrate some of the newest trends in home design, renovations and products. April 2, 2017: Front Porch Sundays Kick-off
Warmer weather means spending more time outdoors exploring the city — and Front Porch Sundays are the perfect way to get out and discover local brands all in one location at Shook Kelly in Historic South End. Front Porch Sundays will kick-off for the spring/summer season the first Sunday in April from 1 to 5 p.m. and will feature several local vendors, food trucks and bands. Admission is free. April 2, 2017: Mother Shuckin’ Oyster Roast
Sea Level NC has teamed up with NoDa Brewing to throw the ultimate oyster roast in honor of NC Beer Month! Sea Level will provide roasted oysters to accompany NoDa Brewing’s Mother Shucker brew. You can purchase single oysters or buy an entire bucket to share. Roast kicks off at noon and money raised from sales will benefit The Bulb Gallery. For more information, click here.
April 7, 2017: Craft Freedom Festival
Continue celebrating NC Craft Beer Month at the Craft Freedom Festival where you can sample brews from more than 11 local breweries, including Lenny Boy Brewing, Wooden Robot, Blue Blaze, Triple C and many more. April 8, 2017: Rosedale Easter Egg Hunt
Your kiddos are sure to enjoy a day hunting for Easter Eggs throughout the beautiful boxwood mazes during Historic Rosedale Plantation’s annual hunt. Eggs will be stuffed with goodies and educational facts about the plantation. Every participant will go home with a treat. There will be three hunts: 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon. April 8 & 15, 2017: Lazy 5 Ranch Easter Egg-stravaganza
Experience an Easter Egg hunt like never before at Lazy 5 Ranch’s annual egg drop — where hundreds of eggs are dropped from a helicopter for kids of all ages! There will also be lots of fun contests, a scavenger hunt and live bunnies to pet. For more information, click here.
April 17-23, 2017: Charlotte Jazz Festival

April 19-21, 2017: Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend
Sip and savor the best of the Charlotte food scene and world-class wines at the Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend. The event spans three days and features several upscale dinners created by the city’s top chefs accompanied by award-winning wines. The weekend’s signature event is Big Bottles & Blues — an evening full of wine and beer samples, plenty of food and a silent auction featuring incredible prizes like unique trips and signed sports memorabilia. April 21-23, 2017: Tuck Fest at USNWC
Tuck Fest takes over the U.S. National Whitewater Center for three days with more than 20 thrilling outdoor competitions including kayaking, biking and trail running. April 22, 2017: Girl Tribe Pop Up
More than 60 local boutiques, artisans, jewelry designers and tastemakers will come together for the Girl Tribe Pop Up: Spring Break Edition — that ultimate girl’s day out, where you can shop ’til you drop! Along with plenty of shopping there will be a photo booth set up for lots of pictures as well as local brews to sip on. Regular admission is free, VIP tickets are $10. April 22, 2017: Moo & Brew Festival
We can’t think of anything better than spending the day sampling local craft beer and burgers for a great cause — and that’s exactly what you can do at the 3rd annual Moo & Brew Craft Beer and Burger Festival. There will also be plenty of live entertainment including a performance by Blues Travelers! Tickets are $35 and proceeds will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank and The HeartBright Foundation. April 22, 2017: Sweet Escapes at the Mint Museum
Satisfy your sweet tooth at the 6th annual Sweet Escapes fundraiser, where you’ll find more than 500 lbs. of chocolate in all sorts of sculptures and fabulous creations to taste — all by local chefs! Along with the sweet treats there will be live music, heavy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and a silent auction. Sweet Escapes will be at the Mint Museum Randolph and tickets start at $5o. April 27-29, 2017: Wuthering Heights by Charlotte Ballet
The popular story of love and revenge makes its way to the Charlotte stage as the ballet performs its take on the novel, Wuthering Heights, at the Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts. April 29, 2017: Ladies Tea & Tour at Billy Graham Library
Join the Billy Graham Library for its 10th annual Ladies Tea & Tour where guests will enjoy a lovely tea on the library’s campus and then a guided journey of faith tour. Duck Dynasty star Missy Robertson will deliver an encouraging message about faith and her family’s personal journey. There will be two seatings at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets are $35. April 29, 2017: Queen’s Cup Steeplechase
Take off to the races at the Queen’s Cup Steeplechase — Charlotte’s version of the Kentucky Derby – where jockeys and thoroughbreds compete for $150,000 of purse money. Race goers can enjoy a day in the sun tailgating and cheering on their favorite horse. There will also be Jack Russell Terrier races, raffles and even a tailgate contest. Tickets start at $50. April 29, 2017: Sarcoma Stomp
Run (or walk) to support the fight against Sarcoma — a rare and debilitating form of cancer — at the 6th annual Sarcoma Stomp for the Paula Takacs Foundation. Participants can choose between a 3K walk or 5K run, or you can volunteer to be a part of the cheer section to encourage participants during the race. It’s $25 to participate.
