The 2015 Birmingham Home and Garden Inspiration Home held a party to celebrate the many talented architects and designers that contributed to this year’s gorgeous home. Nestled in the heart of Calton Hill, a new development in Mountain Brook, the Inspiration Home embraces big style in a smaller-than-usual (for the Inspiration Home) 3,500-square-foot space. Many stylish designers came to enjoy a leisurely stroll through the finished home with cocktails, wine and beer. And catering was provided by Cantina on Wheels with a spread of queso, guacamole, chips, churros and more with their food truck parked out front, serving up additional tacos, Mexican street corn and their famous garlic fries. Party-goers were enjoying the home’s spacious open floor plan, and discovering the impressively large bathrooms and closets throughout the home. Because the weather was so lovely, many guests could be found on the home’s back patio, where an inviting lighted cocktail pool took center stage.
Charles G. Kessler, Jr. of KADCO Homes was the lead builder on this project and Jim Kelly Custom Homes, Alan Wisdom of Wisdom & Associates and Chris Reebals of Christopher Architecture + Interiors were the architectural team. Sherri Ellis of Ellis Interiors served as the design liaison on this project, working with talented local artisans and designers such as At Home Furnishings, Central Woodwork, Defining Home, Marjorie Johnston and Co. with Katherine Bramlett, Stock & Trade Design Co. ad Three Sheets, among others.
Overall, the crowd’s wardrobe seemed to lean toward casual yet elegant feel with touches of boho-chic or modern flair. Suffice it to say, these preeminent experts in design and architecture also wore their terrific sense of style. Overall, it was a fabulous affair, and many people commented on how refreshing it was to see a smaller home “live large” with its generous open floor plan, luxurious decor and creative use of space. The house next door has already been bought, and the affair generated a number of other interested buyers, as well as other groups interested in hosting their holiday parties in the fabulous space. We think it’s safe to say that the Birmingham Home and Garden 2015 Inspiration Home was a smashing success!
