As we move through the holiday season, a plethora of exciting events light up our social calendar, and although festive cheer comes with each event, so does the need to find a fashion-forward look to make just the right statement. Today, we’re showcasing nine style suggestions ideal for any of your upcoming seasonal celebrations. These local looks from basic., Manhattan South and Wrapsody will put you right in the holiday spirit!
Today’s gorgeous models are three female makers who add their own unique magic to our city. Kathy d’Agostino brought her passion for chocolate to life by opening Chocolatá Artisanal Chocolatier in downtown Birmingham. Learn more about her here. Lacey Woodroof opened basic., a sustainable fashion boutique, on Morris Avenue after learning of the dangerous conditions and harmful chemical byproducts, among other grim facts, in the mass-produced fashion world. Learn more about Lacey and how she is going back to basics here. And Katherine Tucker is the ultra-talented creator of Civil Stoneware, a pottery studio that creates timeless, thoughtful, handcrafted pieces of pottery. Learn more about Katherine here. And we couldn’t think of a more appropriate backdrop than Leaf & Petal‘s gorgeous new Cahaba Heights location, which is all decked out for the holiday season. Now, let’s get to styling!

THANK YOU to Katherine, Kathy and Lacey for modeling in today’s What to Wear!
CASUAL CELEBRATION
Throughout the season, there are plenty of opportunities to relax with friends and enjoy the most wonderful time of year! Consider these options your casual, go-to ensembles for sipping hot cocoa and ice skating at Railroad Park or attending the Alabama Theatre’s Chrismas Movie Series.
What to wear: Not only will you feel comfortable in these looks, you’ll also look polished and stylish. We suggest opting for a chunky sweater paired with classic denim and mules for a timeless look, or a cropped sweater and fun, white trousers for a ’70s-inspired ensemble. If you’re looking to dress it up a bit, don a nice blouse and skinny jeans with heels to create that coveted “casual chic” style.

FESTIVE NIGHT OUT
December is packed with holiday functions. Whether it be a night out sipping festive cocktails or the annual get-together for gifting and celebrating, these looks are ideal. Or, if you’d rather step out on the town, these styles are fantastic for the annual Red Mountain Theatre Company Holiday Spectacular or the 69th Annual IPC Holiday House Tour.
What to wear: For any of the festive nights out you have coming up, we suggest going for a simple, flattering dress dolled up with some statement earrings and heels, or if you’re more comfortable in pants, pair your favorites with a soft blouse, drop earrings and heeled booties. You’ll feel dressed up enough without compromising comfort.

ELEGANT SOIRÉE
This season always includes a few elegant evenings. Whether you’re headed to a loved one’s annual Christmas party, catching a performance with the family or attending a charity gala, there are plenty of opportunities to get all dolled up this December. We suggest these for Alabama Ballet’s performance of The Nutcracker or Anderson East with SUSTO and The Brummies presented by Birmingham Mountain Radio at the Alabama Theatre this New Year’s Eve!
What to wear: For your most elegant events, we’ve rounded up three gorgeous dresses for every style preference. A simple black dress paired with booties and festive gold earrings is a classic go-to for holiday parties, and we are loving this wrapped option. Consider spicing it up a bit by rocking sequins pre-NYE or choosing unexpected, yet festive shades of soft ice blue.
