Thanksgiving kicks off the busy holiday season, and the official start to winter is right around the corner! With the change in season comes our favorite jackets, pants, scarves and boots, as well as a calendar chock full of fabulous November events. We’ve rounded up stunning outfits for three upcoming local events, so you can showcase your signature style while celebrating the late fall and early winter festivities.
We have an extra-exciting edition of What to Wear this month featuring two gorgeous and empowering Birmingham women — Kristi Tingle Higginbotham and Talia Pepke — at the beautiful and historic Virginia Samford Theatre. Kristi is one of Birmingham’s premier performers and was voted “Birmingham’s Best Leading Actress” a total of six times by the readers of The Birmingham News. She is a private vocal coach and has appeared as an actress and singer in a multitude of symphonies, orchestras and plays around the country. Talia Pepke is a Birmingham native who began her acting career when she accidentally walked into auditions at her high school at age 14. She later became the Marketing and Event Manager at Virginia Samford Theatre. Talia has put her marketing skills on hold as she continues to pursue her performing passion and today, she shines as one of our stunning models!
The exquisite looks today come from the fashion gurus at Gus Mayer and Theadora Abbeyluxe, who show us that whether you’re taking in Twelfth Night at the Virgina Samford Theatre, enjoying a brew and some art at The Moss Rock Festival or participating in an elegant black-tie affair at The TumTum Tree Foundation Annual Charity Wine Auction, you can enjoy your socializing in style. Here’s what to wear to these fabulous November events.

“If music be the food of love, play on!” Come out to the gorgeous Virginia Samford Theatre this month for a performance of one of Shakespeare’s most exuberant and sophisticated comedies, Twelfth Night! This tale of love, mistaken identity, mischief and music is reimagined through the funky-meets-cheesy disco era, and stars some of Birmingham’s most talented actors and musicians. And the Birmingham Sugar Babies, a sassy group of tap-dancing women ranging in age from 53 to 71 years old, will make their Shakespeare debut!
What to Wear: There is nothing better than getting dolled up for a night at the theater. Plan a date night or an evening with the gals, and style yourself in a fabulous and elegant dress to enjoy a night of Shakespeare. Theadora Abbeyluxe helped us create three striking looks just right for a fabulous night out.

The end of summer does not have to mean the end of bohemian outdoor festivals. The 11th Annual Moss Rock Festival will take place at the Preserve in Hoover and will center around nature, art, design and environmentally friendly living. This fall festival welcomes 12,000 visitors annually and features live music on a main stage, artists’ and makers’ tents, a beer garden, nature-inspired exhibits, eco-friendly vehicles, food trucks, planet projects by area schools, a “WonderKid Studio” where kids can create and play and, of course, hiking and geocaching at the adjacent Moss Rock Preserve. There’s fun for everyone at this festival!
What to Wear: This is one of the most creative festivals in the Magic City, so your look should follow suit. Flowing layers and bold patterns are key to standing out, staying comfortable and accentuating your personality during this beautiful fall festival. The fashion-forward minds at Gus Mayer provided us with three ultra-stylish looks for the Moss Rock Festival.

The TumTum Tree Foundation, a Birmingham-based nonprofit organization supporting Alabama’s children’s charities, will hold its 27th Annual Charity Wine Auction Weekend November 3 through 5, 2016. The weekend begins with a wine tasting and silent auction at Regions Field, followed by private winemaker-hosted dinners on Thursday, November 3. A black-tie La Paulée-style dinner and live auction will be held at The Club on November 4, and the weekend concludes with a tailgate party in Auburn, Alabama, at the Auburn versus Vanderbilt football game on Saturday, November 5. Wine, culture, charity, elegant fashions and a tailgate party — what more could you want!
What to Wear: This weekend of amazing events requires a few different looks, each as sophisticated and elegant as the wine the TumTum Tree Foundation supporters will be sipping. This event calls for classic, elevated looks, and luckily, Theadora Abbeyluxe and Gus Mayer helped us create three dazzling outfits perfect for this wine-filled affair!
