What are some work clothes options that are good for when the weather is warm?
When you’re going from the hot and humid great outdoors to the freezing cold A/C of your office, it can make dressing comfortably a challenge, so light layers are the name of the game! Focus on lightweight and breathable basics like linen blend cardigans and blazers, cotton tailored ankle pants, shirt dresses and sleeveless tops. These items create a solid foundation and allow for versatility and easy layering!

How do you find the right clothing color palette that works for your skin tone?
Thank you for asking this question, as color is everything! First and foremost, ask yourself, What colors do you feel best in? This does not mean what colors make you feel “slim” or help you “hide behind your clothes,” but what colors truly make you feel confident. Then ask yourself, What colors get you the most compliments? After asking yourself these two questions, you should be on your way to determining the color palette that best suits you. On this colorful journey, I encourage you to be open-minded and willing to branch out from your “color rules” from years past. Clients are always amazed at how many more colors they can wear when they kick their confining rules to the curb. I encourage you to experiment by trying on various colored items next time you’re out shopping and really ask yourself, How does this color make me feel? I bet you’ll be amazed by what you discover!
I’m old enough to have flashbacks of the ubiquitous Steve Madden black version of these platform slide-on sandals. Yea or nay? What is the best way to wear and not look like the bad version of a throwback?
This question gave me a good giggle, as I definitely remember those Steve Madden sandals that every girl just had to have. I hear from clients every season that they remember this trend or that fad, and oftentimes they feel the same way as you … been there, done that. So how can you rock the flatform trend in a fresh new way that doesn’t take you back to 1998? The easiest way is to select a completely different version of the trend. For example, select a lace up espadrille flatform, a flatform sneaker or anything that doesn’t read chunky platform slide-on sandal! The next step is wearing this shoe in a modern way. Pinterest and fashion magazines are great places to visit for inspiration on how to wear the latest trends, so start there, and find looks that best speak to your style. Have fun!
What are the easiest trends to add to your style if you’re not a super-fashionable gal?
It all depends on your personal style! What might be an easy trend to rock for a classic femme would feel not quite right for a more bohemian femme and vice versa. The very first step I take with my clients is deciphering and honing in on their personal style, as everyone is unique in their likes and dislikes. But to give you some style direction, here are a few trends that would be an easy way to look on point:
Wear stripes in a flattering way for your body type and style, whether that be vertical stripes for more petite femmes or a horizontal striped tee for the classic femme.
Florals are another classic print that is on trend right now. Select the size floral pattern based on your height, and don’t forget to go with a floral that best speaks to your style. If prints aren’t your thing, then try a floral print in an accessory, like a shoe or scarf.
Who doesn’t love an easy slip-on shoe? Mules come in all forms this season, so select the right heel height and shoe style for you.
For someone who doesn’t wear patterns, how do you wear floral without going over the top?
Accessories are the answer! Small doses and dashes of any print, like florals, are best accomplished through shoes, scarves, purses and even earrings. Keep the rest of your look neutral and understated to allow the print to pop. If you’re up for trying a floral print in a piece of clothing, then go for a top that can be layered under a solid cardigan, vest or jacket to downplay the all-over pattern.
Where do I find the perfect pair of jeans?
In my opinion, jeans are like accessories. How, you ask? Each piece is personal to the owner, or wearer, of the item. Jeans and jewelry are not generic, but instead need crafting and experimenting to find that “just right” piece. You have to try on multiple brands and cuts to find the perfect fit. So, finding that perfect pair of jeans simply takes time. When I work with a client, I first decipher their body type, and from there, I can tell what brand and cut is going to fit them best. What are some ideas for age-appropriate weekend wear, not including workout clothes?
This is one of my favorite topics to discuss, so thank you for asking! With summer approaching, it’s the perfect time to focus on warm-weather weekend wear.
If you feel comfortable in shorts, then pick the length that best flatters your leg, but don’t stop there. Shorts and a tee can feel plain and lackluster, so add some interest to your casual outfit with a fun sandal, stylish sneaker or pendant necklace. If shorts aren’t for you, then why not try a tailored linen pant, lightweight jeans or a casual skirt. These basic summer bottoms are just as easy as active wear to toss on but make you look and feel like a polished femme, and who doesn’t love that?!
Recently my clients and I have been loving up-leveled t-shirts. From a ruffle sleeve to a crochet overlay to a graphic element, we’re seeing stylish tees everywhere this season. Having a few of these tees on hand will surely take your basic shorts, jeans or linen pants up a notch to ensure you look pulled together while enjoying a comfortable weekend look.
