Fall is my favorite season to go out for dinner or drinks. I love how the days are still a bit warm and the nights have a cool, crisp, make-you-feel-alive air. And then, of course, it’s also time to break out the boots and cozy knits. Take advantage of the season and don’t just hit the town on the weekends. Change it up a bit and take advantage of some great area food and drink specials going on during the week. Here are four days and four delicious ways to enjoy our great city for less:
Destination: AVO/Dram Whiskey Bar
My hubby and I don’t typically eat out on Sundays, but learning that Avo/Dram Whiskey Bar offers half-off all bottles of wine has us reconsidering. Apparently others are in agreement as the last Sunday night we were there, the place was hoppin’! Pair that vino with the Belgian beer-braised mussels, a half dozen oysters or the Sonoma sliders for a heavenly experience. And take advantage of the cooler temps by dining outside before it gets too cold.
Destination: Asian Rim
Asian Rim, a locally owned restaurant located at the Colonnade Shopping Center, dishes up flavorful sushi, traditional Asian fare and more. And it’s a great spot for lunch or dinner. But for sushi fans in particular, listen up: $1 sushi night is an absolute must! Every Monday after 6 p.m., guests can get 3 pieces of sushi for $1 from a choice of four of their most popular rolls, making it an unbelievable bargain you won’t find anywhere else.
Two-for-one Tuesdays with half-off beer and two-for-one pizza slices from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. make this a great date night or family outing. While there, enjoy the live jazz band Goodfellas, which performs each Tuesday night. Located in Crestline Village, Mafiaoza’s serves up gangster-themed pies—”Brass Knuckles,” “the Fedora” and “the Last Request” to name a few—that have earned them a solid reputation among locals and pizza connoisseurs alike.
Destination: La Paz
Wednesdays, or rather miércoles, are meant for margaritas! With $4 frozen or $3 on the rocks options, La Paz is where the fresh margarita fiesta is. And nothing goes better with a margarita than fresh chips and salsa, or choose from an impressive menu selection. Brocheta de camarones (bacon wrapped grilled shrimp) and taqueria style street tacos are always a hit!
