Last month I was a last minute lucky recipient of a spare ticket to the Pink concert at the BJCC and was super excited to join a fun group of spunky women, some of whom I was just meeting for the first time. The night proved to be full of bonding moments—the coasting-on-fumes cab driver experience, the typical absurdities of people watching at a Pink show, bathroom fiascos, you get the idea. But aside from the funny moments of the evening, a clear highlight was our pre-concert dinner at Cantina.
At Cantina, you place your order at the counter and servers bring it to your table when it’s ready. Of course we started the night off with margaritas and cheese dip. The drinks are made in house, so no prefab margarita mix here, and the cheese dip is made with chorizo sausage, which gives it an extra kick.
Fish and chicken tacos made an appearance (briefly!), and by all accounts the cilantro mayo was a superb accompaniment. Tacos are ordered a la carte, so it’s easy to order any combination or just a single serving.
Here are a few shots of the food that arrived in record time at our table. The fish tacos were crunchy, yet delicate, and the slaw and avocado provided all the right textures. The Cilantro Chicken from the Big Plate menu was served with roasted corn, cheese and poblano peppers on a bed of saffron rice. Our gluten-free gal was in heaven!
Next time your in the mood for Mexican, head over to Cantina! And if you are in need of a large party venue, they have a spacious room that can be rented out for parties.
