Melissa was all set to go with friends to an Alabama-Ole Miss football game and the trip got cancelled, but instead of moping around at home she decided to make the best of it and go to a cookout instead. And while she was there, she just happened to meet the man of her dreams!
Melissa Sullivan and Cameron Wallis met in the fall of 2011 the night of that game. And as luck would have it, Cameron, who usually worked every Saturday, just happened to be off on that particular night. They had run into each other numerous times while attending the University of Alabama, but on this particular evening they felt a real connection. After a few short months, they both knew that they had found “the one.”

The vision for their wedding was one of simplicity and most importantly fun. Their wedding and reception was held at the lovely Rancho de las Aquilas on June 8, 2013. Located just outside of Birmingham, AL, and with amazing vistas, the venue makes visitors feel like they’ve been transported to a European countryside villa. Melissa says, “We wanted this type of wedding because we are both very family and friend oriented. For us, the day wasn’t about the glitz and glam, but instead we wanted it to reflect how we love to have a good time. The outdoor venue made it feel more personal for us, especially with the added charm of the venue’s homey feel.”
Melissa found her stunning gown at Bella Couture in Mt. Laurel, AL. Purple was a key element throughout her planning. You can see this in the gorgeous florals by Norton’s Florist and in the bridesmaids dresses from Bridesmaids Inc. The men wore tuxes from Mr. Burch Formal Wear.
For Melissa the cake was very important, so she selected Sweet Spot Confections. And to entertain her guests she chose Feel The Beat Entertainment. She says, “I wanted my guests to have a good time and to be on the dance floor!”
After dancing the night away with their family and friends, Melissa and Cameron honeymooned at the San Souci Couples Resort in Jamaica. Now residing in Crestline Park, this couple says, “We have no regrets about any of our choices for the wedding, we just wish it had lasted longer!”
Congratulations, Melissa and Cameron, and thanks for sharing your day with us!
