Okay so first of all, I obviously forgot to post my October letter. With all that candy and costume hoopla, I clearly got distracted and thus apologize. Hope everyone had a great time trick-or-treating and raising awareness for breast cancer!
And now it’s time to look forward to November — where we get to stuff our faces (obviously that can happen year round but November, it’s socially acceptable), watch loads of football and hunt for the ultimate shopping deals. We’ve got some great things planned for you here at StyleBlueprint as well! Look for our helpful Thanksgiving takeout guide in case you’re forgoing preparing your own turkey feast, we take one for the team at the fall detox retreat to prep our bodies for all that turkey (see takeout guide above) and we visit City Winery for a wonderful non-turkey meal. As usual, we have our regular departments that will keep you enthralled: powerful women making big changes in Atlanta as part of our FACES series, cool products that would make excellent gifts for yourself or a friend in this month’s FINDS and a super talented designer in our Interior Designer Crush series.
So sit back, grab a gigantic turkey leg and let’s get November started right!
Hooray, September is here! It’s one of my favorite months because I get to celebrate my birthday, my mom’s birthday, Labor Day weekend, the start of fall and did I say…my birthday?! Plus, it’s still shorts weather with a nice breeze in the air (the humidity reduction alone is a reason to revere September).
Want to know why else I love September? We’re sharing great content with you! We have some cool things planned for you this month — we take a look at rolled ice cream (you’ll understand what it is once you read the article), curate Atlanta Instagram accounts you should be falling (obvi StyleBlueprint is on the list), tour Little Barn Apothecary’s new brick-and-mortar store and go inside the mod world of restaurant design. We spend a day on the Beltline and better our health at Nature’s Garden Express.
Plus, we have our regular departments like FACES (with amazing Atlanta women including Mandy Kellogg Rye and Monica Pearson) and FINDS (hint: it’s all about the deer necklace). We can’t wait for you to read what’s up and check out all the awesome content we’re publishing this month!
As you can tell by the tardiness of my August letter, school has officially begun here in Atlanta and my brain is already fried. Trying to get the kiddos out the door and on time is a major adjustment that looks to have spilled over to the rest of my life as well.
Good thing we have some super cool content coming your way! First up and most importantly, we address the fifth food group — French fries — with our round up of the tastiest spots in the city to drown your sorrows in gourmet taters. Later this month, we give you a behind-the-scenes tour of beloved retail stop Made Again as well as some great ideas to brighten someone’s day besides the standard flower bouquet. And we pay homage to Rio’s Summer Olympics by coming up with our own take on sporting competition, where the city’s too-cool-for-school Hipsters are the competitors.
We know as summer ends and routines begin, it’s easy to get lost in your own microcosm. We hope by reading these and other cool August articles, you’ll reconnect with Atlanta, each other and most importantly, yourself!
We’re in the full swing of summer and though the kids may be sending you off the deep end, there’s also a lot of cool things happening in Atlanta — which we’re sharing with all of you!
July is National Ice Cream Month so you know we had to visit some of our favorite Atlanta ice cream shops and do some very
delicious important research, all completed by our new and fabulous intern, Morgan Tatum. We spotlight a wonderful Lawrenceville wedding, complete with corn hole and a cigar bar! As you loyal readers know, we love a good home profile and this month’s mansion is a moody, magnificent Midtown estate. We take a look inside the addictive site that is Classpass to work off all that ice cream and show off our kickboxing skills. There are a few other surprises we can’t wait for you to discover as July comes upon us.
Besides our special features, we have our regular series that are sure to be a welcome sight in July. Our FACES of the South will impress and entertain you, our FINDS have some super rad products (for example the adorable beetle-patterned makeup bag from India Hicks) and What to Wear offers some great outfit options for upcoming events.
Thanks for being loyal readers and make sure to stay cool this month. And don’t forget to follow us on social media!
School’s out, the weather is hot and summer has officially arrived. We in Atlanta had a very busy May — what with the big announcement that we will be hosting the 2019 Super Bowl in our brand spanking new Mercedes-Benz Stadium! Now it’s time to look to June for some great news and fun happenings, all for you!
We kick things off with a look inside Atlanta’s newest (and only) intown cidery, Urban Tree Cidery — where fermented apple juice turns into a delicious, golden brew. We’ll give you a preview of the Atlanta Moon Ride and why it’s one of our city’s coolest, after-dark events fun for the entire family. Trying to decorate your backyard for summer? We will talk with the experts about how to give your outdoor living space a modern update.
Our FACES are super inspirational, including FACE of the South Jenn Gietzen, Atlanta’s own artist/hand letterer extraordinaire who has a wicked sense of humor. Plus, we will be sharing some killer FINDS as usual, and this month we show a little love for the menfolk with a special Father’s Day-centric edition.
There are lots of amazing things going on this month so make sure to reference our June Happenings article as well as the local Happenings we continue to update as the month goes on. Stay cool, wear sunscreen and make sure to share all your fantastic June adventures with StyleBlueprint on social media!
Happy May! As spring fever starts to kick in, it’s time to get ready for summer by taking in the great outdoors and making use of Atlanta’s fabulous weather (before the humidity takes over our lives…and our hair).
We have some great things planned this month. We start off with a feature on the inaugural Southeastern Designer Showhouse & Gardens, displaying the super creative talent of some of the leading designers in our region. We will take you inside Buckhead’s River Mint Finery, an whimsical boutique that offers great wares as well as DIY classes. Take a look at this month’s Interior Designer Crush, Jayme Armour, as well as meet our lovely FACES of Atlanta. And we’re super psyched to learn more about some of the Atlanta chefs of the upcoming Atlanta Food & Wine Festival.
Now that you (hopefully) realize our breaking UBERsloths story was actually an April Fool’s joke, it’s time to take April by storm. This is the month o’ festivals, where every weekend in Atlanta offers some type of event celebrating our wonderful weather, fabulous fauna and delicious dishes. So to jump on the festival party wagon, we’re super excited to share some of the great content we have planned for this month.
We start April with a new monthly series, Interior Designer Crush, where we feature a talented, local interior designer whose work takes our breath away (Lisa Turner and Wallace Bryan from Trinity Mercantile & Design Co. in Decatur kick off the series). We also go inside the grand opening of So Worth Loving’s new Atlanta brick-and-mortar shop and share the clothing brand’s fascinating history (the line started as a Tumblr account!). If you love tea time now as much as you did as a young girl, you will definitely want to check out our feature about the best places in Atlanta to enjoy high tea. And as always, we will focus on awe-inspiring women in our FACES series and super cool products in our FINDS section.
Thank you for your steadfast allegiance and constant interest in our content and commitment to all-things local. We love feedback so send us a message on one of our social media channels whenever you want to drop a line.
Spring is so close I can almost feel the sun on my skin and see the wonderful dogwoods blooming throughout the city. As we all hold out for winter’s last torturous spurts to head out, we can start looking through our closets for all things bright and cheery.
To make your March cheerier, we have some great things planned here at StyleBlueprint. We give you our March FINDS with some of our favorite products and boutiques, highlight Ponce City Market’s wonderful Central Food Hall with our in-depth feature at these tasty eateries and appeal to your inner child as we visit toy store, Rhen’s Nest. Go inside one of the lovely homes sitting on Lake Lanier and make sure to take some notes with our styling recap and how to shoot your favorite meals and other shareworthy subjects. And of course, a few amazing ladies as part of our FACES series.
We can’t wait for to come out of hiberation and free our feet from winter’s close-toed prisons. As always, please hit up our social media feeds or email me anytime if you have a good story idea or want to offer praise (hang on to the criticism).
February is one of my favorite months of the year, and not because of all the extra candy and flowers floating around; we can almost see spring trying to melt its way through, we get a day off for some presidential birthdays, we celebrate Black History Month, we make keen atmospheric observations based on a rodent and we release our inner party animals during Mardi Gras! I personally have a lot of things to be thankful for during this month each year, and celebrating my loved ones is something I always look forward to. Added bonus? 2016 is a leap year so we get an extra day in February to par-tay!
Another reason we love February here at StyleBlueprint? It’s wedding month! Every Wednesday, we will highlight a different local or regional wedding to celebrate Cupid’s handiwork. Besides all that mushy stuff, get ready for our Atlanta Mardi Gras guide, as well as features on Atlanta’s Go Red movement, new Westside restaurant O-Ku and as always, a look into Atlanta’s most interesting, powerful women from our FACES series.
Atlanta, I sincerely appreciate your continued support and spreading the word on StyleBlueprint! I am thankful for all of our loyal readers and followers and am so delighted to see our numbers continue to grow. Please hit up our social media feeds or email me anytime if you have a good story idea, want to offer praise (or, wah-wah, criticism) or just need to talk to someone nice (that’s me).
Hello and welcome to 2016! I’m not sure how you are handling this new year but I’m trying to find a bit of normalcy after all those holidays, family visits, school breaks and of course, mass amounts of food (and if you follow us on Instagram, you know that’s part of our yet-to-be-instituted resolution list). As anyone in Atlanta can attest, this winter has been completely and utterly bipolar, so I’m also in the phase of acceptance as it seems the weather has finally turned cold. Silver lining? Pulling out the adorable winter coats that have been in hibernation all year.
If you are starting this year as a new reader, welcome! If you are a continued reader, thanks for your support and interest. We have some great stories coming your way this month: Introduce yourself to “boba” in our bubble tea roundup, peruse the colorful racks at Roberta Roller Rabbit, get some workout advice from Atlanta’s fitness experts to keep up with your resolutions,, get to know some amazing local women in our FACES series as always, and other really entertaining stuff for January.
I love discovering new, cool places in Atlanta and aiming the spotlight on a few hidden, quieter gems in the city. I’m always open to your ideas and love hearing from our readers and social media followers — please contact me with interesting finds, cool events or just to say hi!
It’s easy to get lost in the minutiae of everyday life — take the garbage out, pay the bills, walk the dog, keep the kids alive. But when December rolls by, it’s only natural to take stock of what’s happened in the last year and look back at the good, the bad and the ugly of 2015.
For me, I feel the changes most in my family. A year ago, one of my children wasn’t even walking; now she runs down the halls and shows off her dance moves any time she hears “All About That Bass.” My other child couldn’t read last year; now she’s OBSESSED with spelling every object she sees and word she hears (seriously, I know learning is important but it’s a bit maddening to spell every noun she sees out of the car window). We had a few health scares last year, and I’m so glad the people I love have healed (or are in the process of healing) and are making positive changes to the way they live their lives. I even joined the minivan brigade this year with my sweet ride — love the extra storage space, hate parking a tank (if you see a new Odyssey slightly double parked somewhere in Atlanta, it’s probably me and I apologize ahead of time).
And I joined the StyleBlueprint team! Taking the reins in Atlanta has been an adventure and working with some of the smartest, most talented women around has been a sincere pleasure. I’ve been working and will continue to work hard on publishing the information we all want to know living in our busy city. This month, it’s all about the fabulous finds you can give to someone during the holidays…or just keep for yourself — we have great hostess gifts, luxurious products for the really deserving people in your life and perfect items under $50. We will also give you a taste of some of the best holiday cocktails served in Atlanta, as well as where to party this New Year’s Eve. And of course, putting the spotlight on Atlanta’s most interesting women, part of our FACES series.
Thank you so much for being a part of our StyleBlueprint circle. I will continue to provide great articles and discover awesome people/places/things happening in our city; you continue to stay loyal and share all the StyleBlueprint fun with your friends.
Have a very happy and healthy holiday season!
Hope everyone wakes up from their Halloween-induced candy comas ready to take on November! November in Atlanta is gorgeous — just take a walk through Piedmont Park, or really any park near your house, and take a look at how lucky we are. We get the vibrant colors of the changing leaves, like other Northern regions, without that miserable, bitter cold. (Of course, we are the world-famous home of Icemageddon, so we don’t totally get off scot-free when it comes to cold weather.) And as we settle into the fall months, we’re treated to a smorgasbord of turkey, pie and scrumptious Black Friday sales.
More importantly, November reminds us to be thankful — for our mind, body and spirit. We are reminded that this is the time for family and friends to join together and give thanks for being in each other’s lives. We at StyleBlueprint are so thankful to you, our readers, who’s loyalty and engagement continue to impress and humble us.
To thank our readers, we’ve got some great things planned for November! Our November FINDS spotlights some great items from amazing shops here in and around Atlanta. We will introduce you to some fabulous local women who so deserve to be our FACES, including those shaping Atlanta’s influence on the art, movie and design worlds. Can’t wrap your mind around Thanksgiving? We got you covered with a week full of recipes, wine recommendations and other delicious articles to devour. And don’t get us started on this city’s glorious tater tots.
We’re so glad you are a part of the StyleBlueprint family and can’t wait to spend a tasty November together.
It’s October, my absolute favorite time of the year! My birthday is the last day of September and from that point on, I’m psyched for everything that follows — gorgeous autumn colors, sweater weather, costume parties and football (mostly because the hubs is busy strategizing his fantasy league). And since we’re sharing (or more specifically, I’m sharing), I’d love to introduce myself as the new city editor for StyleBlueprint Atlanta.
This city is bursting with activity, from major corporations, municipal endeavors and movies and TV projects, to smaller-scale and just-as-worthy businesses, non-profits and newsmakers. I’m excited to discover new trends and tell stories that will entice and intrigue anyone living in this ever-expanding city. Atlanta is its own entity — a hybrid between good ol’ Southern charm and one of the largest cities in the country, where you can be hard pressed to find someone actually born here. We at StyleBlueprint will focus on what makes us Atlantans so special and what we want to read about.
This month, we are spotlighting Little Five Points and discovering all the idiosyncrasies that make this neighborhood such an Atlanta landmark. We visit the new Ponce City Market and get to know one of the coolest retailers there, Karoo, offering one-of-a-kind eyewear. Get your juice on with our analysis of the big Atlanta juice bars blending the tastiest beverages, and overload on cuteness with our boutique feature of children’s clothing store, Emerald August. And of course, October wouldn’t be complete without a thorough piece on the city’s most Halloween-y homes!
So whether you’re ITP, OTP or SBTP (what I’m calling “Seriously Beyond The Perimeter”), I can’t wait to meet you and hope you fall in love with Atlanta all over again with our awesome content.
