With the arrival of spring I always find myself steering my lunch choices to the salad portion of the menu. Something a little lighter, but still chock full of fresh, delicious ingredients. Here are a few of my favorite salads from around town.
Gallery Cafe is one of those great little lunch places. But, don’t think of it as only “ladies who lunch.” I frequently meet my husband there during the week and there are always plenty of other men ordering up their soup and sandwiches. My favorite salad on the menu is appropriately named “My Usual.” The perfectly seasoned grilled chicken is the highlight of the salad. click here for website
The Hungry Peach is one of the newest lunch spots in Atlanta. And while it is a little hard to find, the fresh salads make it completely worth your while. My favorite from the spring menu is the Rosemary Grilled Shrimp. Basically, it is a delightful wedge salad, but with The Hungry Peach twist. It is located inside ADAC and might be best for a quick takeout unless you are working away inside ADAC. http://thehungrypeach.com/
When a friend declared the Greek Salad at Sophie’s Uptown as their favorite in Atlanta I knew I had to head over there and give it a try. And, I must say, it is divine. It has all of the good stuff: cucumbers, feta, tomatoes, black olives, chopped pepperoncini. I get them to add a big dollop of hummus for some added protein. http://www.sophiesuptown.com/
I am declaring the Mediterranean Salad from Star Provisions to be my favorite salad in Atlanta. It is an amazing blend of flavors and textures all in one bowl. There are lentils, tomatoes, feta and carrots, a chick pea salad and chopped cucumbers that have been tossed in a yogurt and dill dressing. http://www.starprovisions.com/
Anis Cafe and Bistro is one of those little restaurants that transports you from busy Atlanta to a quiet tree lined avenue in Paris. The best spot to sit is on the outdoor patio and the best salad is the salmon salad. Perfectly grilled salmon on a bed of greens with touches of blue cheese and candied pecans. It is a delightful mix of sweet and salty. http://www.anisbistro.com/
