If you needed one more reason to venture to Atlanta’s Westside, Kane is it. The recently opened clothing boutique houses some of our favorite fashion-forward designers including Vince, Tibi and Rebecca Taylor, along with some stylish surprises like Stella & Jamie and Troubadour.
Owner Elizabeth Kane Wing describes her collection of modern threads as “Southern with an edge,” and everywhere you turn in the loft-like interior are pieces that suit Atlanta’s dressy-casual vibe. For daytime, try a silk tank with a pair of distressed denim shorts, while wispy maxi dresses offer a great alternative to the classic cocktail dress.
An array of statement-making accessories also take an outfit up a notch. Marie Turner lunch sack clutches and Mignonne Gavigan scarf necklaces can be paired with just about any ensemble. For shoes, Elizabeth loves Joie, because “you can wear them all day long,” and Tkee flip-flops come in leather—a must-have for summers spent indoors and out.
Kane’s contemporary style meshes well with its urban location. “The Westside is the coolest, most innovative place in Atlanta,” claims Elizabeth. And while there is no shortage of retailers, she believes her shop brings something different to the table. “Ann Mashburn is known for impeccable tailoring. The Bilt House has great casual pieces. And Calypso is bohemian. Kane has more of a New York feel.”
The boutique may be “big city,” but Elizabeth is about as friendly and Southern as they come, having grown up in Atlanta and graduated from Lovett and UGA. In fact, Elizabeth’s flair for fashion developed at an early age when she was always dreaming up new ways to wear her school uniform. “I actually won ‘best dressed’ in high school,” she reveals. “There’s not much you can do with gray and khaki, but I wore a lot of sparkly pins, and my skirts kept getting shorter and shorter,” she says with a laugh.
Check out Kane for yourself! The store is located at 691 14th St., Atlanta. Call (678) 705-8983 or visit kaneboutique.com to learn more.
