The trends of farm-to-table and in-season dining do not seem to be fading away anytime soon. But what if a restaurant took the concepts one step further and promised to create a menu full of delicious dishes that are not only seasonal, but are also nutritious and good for your body? One of Atlanta’s newest restaurants is striving to do just that. Dining at True Food Kitchen is an experience not just for your palate, but also your health.
Located on the edge of Lenox Square mall, True Food Kitchen is a welcoming, open space with large windows filtering in sunlight. The kitchen dominates the back of the restaurant and provides the perfect opportunity to glimpse the multitude of fresh ingredients and the chefs hard at work. They also have a large outdoor covered patio, perfect for a leisurely meal. While we were there we noticed a wide range of diners — everyone from ladies in workout clothes to office workers on their lunch break, men, women, and lots of children, all digging into their plates of healthy food.
The menu at True Food Kitchen is based on Dr. Andrew Weil’s anti-inflammatory diet, which aims to prevent chronic inflammation in our bodies by eating nutrient-dense foods. The flavors of the dishes are inspired by Mediterranean, Asian and American cuisine, and ingredients are chosen based on the season. As many ingredients as possible are organic and all are chosen based on sustainability and their health properties. Basically, when you eat at True Food Kitchen you will be enjoying a meal that is healthy and full of flavor!
To start, don’t plan on only having water with your meal. Ordering a juice or another one of their refreshing beverages is the perfect way to kickoff your meal. They also have a large selection of cocktails and beer, some of which are gluten free.
True Food Kitchen and their healthy and tasty approach to dining are a welcome addition to Atlanta! The restaurant is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and brunch is served on the weekends.
