With everything feeling so uneasy right now, Dolly Parton is once again a saving grace. At a time when nerves are high and sleep may be hard to come by, the country legend is helping us all get ready for a good night’s sleep with her new video series “Goodnight with Dolly.”
The singer recently announced she will read aloud from a different children’s book each week for 10 weeks starting on April 2 at 6 p.m. The series airs every Thursday on Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library YouTube channel. Dolly will be reading from stellar selections like The Little Engine That Could as well as other books in her Imagination Library collection, such as There’s a Hole in the Log on the Bottom of the Lake by Loren Long, Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney, I Am a Rainbow by Dolly Parton, Pass It On by Sophy Henn, Stand Tall Molly Lou Mellon by Patty Lovell, Violet the Pilot by Steve Breen, Max & The Tag-Along Moon by Floyd Cooper, Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Peña and Coat of Many Colors by Dolly Parton.
It seems this is just the kind of comfort and love the world needs right now. In the official Imagination Library press release, Dolly says, “This is something I have been wanting to do for quite a while, but the timing never felt quite right. I think it is pretty clear that now is the time to share a story and to share some love. It is an honor for me to share the incredible talent of these authors and illustrators. They make us smile, they make us laugh and they make us think.”
Thank you, Dolly!
Tune in for the premiere of “Goodnight with Dolly,” taking place Thursday, April 2, at 6 p.m. on YouTube. Pillows, blankets, milk and cookies are optional but strongly encouraged.
