Remember our camping story from last summer, where our camping friends saw this old fashioned camper:
Flash forward to Christmas. Is everyone familiar with the Neiman Marcus Christmas Catalog? In the catalog is a Fantasy Wish List that features nine gifts ranging in price from $30,000 to $1 million. Neiman’s gives a portion of the sale of these items back to a selected charity.
This camper made the list: (click here to see the Neiman Marcus entry)
For $150,000 you can tailgate in style with the Bulleit Frontier Whiskey Woody Tailgate Trailer. (Whew, that’s a mouthful.) Basically, it’s Bulleit Bourbon‘s, (a Louisville native) way of taking their show on the road.
And, what a show it is.
Recently they were at The Prickly Pear in Middletown for a stop and paired that with a trunk show of Southern Proper bow ties. The trailer was made from scratch, modeled after the campers of yore (see first picture). It was designed by interior designer Brad Ford. They used all refurbished bourbon barrel wood for the exterior.
The inside is done in beautiful leather from Virginia-based tannery Moore & Giles, with throw pillows creating a cozy place to sip your bourbon or take a post-game nap.
The smell of the leather in here was better than any new car smell ever.
To entertain your guests, there is an entertainment system complete with a flat-screen television and a top-notch sound system. All of this can be controlled through your smartphone, in case you are too busy mixing a drink to walk around to the back of the camper.
Saving the best for last, here is the front of the camper, showcasing the one-year supply of Bulleit Bourbon and Bulleit Rye. (Not shown today is the collection of Baccarat glassware that comes with the trailer.)
Upon closer look, you notice the copper sinks to hold ice (or do dishes, but that option is probably not on the forefront here.)
Here is a visual of what a year’s supply of Bulleit Bourbon and Bulleit Rye would look like. Ties shown are from Southern Proper.
Also included in your gift is Bulleit to Go which “includes a limited-edition handcrafted flask, a bottle of Bulleit Bourbon signed by founder Tom Bulleit, and a leather-bound edition of The PDT Cocktail Book: The Complete Bartender’s Guide from the Celebrated Speakeasy.”
If you are just interested in the handcrafted flask, it’s $1500.
Needless to say, the Tailgate Trailer has not sold. Bulleit Bourbon now takes it on the road, and during Derby season, that road is all around the Louisville area. They are hoping to take it around the South, where tailgating is an art and bourbon is appreciated on a higher level.
As for me? I’m just going to crawl in here with my cocktail and take a respite from my busy day …
