December is all about giving and finding that perfect gift for your friends and family; November is that last hurrah of self-spending where it’s still OK to focus on me…err, I mean you…you get the point. Whether you want to treat yourself to a fabulous find or one of your pals, we’ve gone all Maria von Trapp and collected a few of our favorite things! Take a look at some cool items from Atlanta boutiques awaiting your arrival …
FOOD & DRINK
As the out-of-towners start to flood into Atlanta, make sure you have a variety of food to satisfy each houseguest. These Bumbleberry Farms’ spreads, $14 each, from Erika Reade Ltd., make a great addition to the dining table and would taste delicious atop any biscuit, dessert, coffee, or even a gourmet glaze.
If your dude loves whiskey, looking dapper and appreciating the finer things in life, get him the Whiskey Enthusiast gift box, $109.99, from A Gentleman’s Trove. This Atlanta-based website offers high-end products for every man in your life. This specific gift includes The Oak Bottle, crystal whiskey tumblers, Aged Cocktail Book, wax sealer (for the bottle), leather coasters and the finishing touch: a pre-tied bow tie.
Ariel may not have had legs, but she’s always enjoyed a fine piece of chocolate. XocolATL Small Batch Chocolate offers their Kissed Mermaids bar for $9.50, available at Krog Street Market. It’s a tasty treat that reminds you of a relaxing afternoon at the beach, featuring coconut milk, sea salt and vanilla.
Gingerbread cookie candy
Combine cookies and candy into one mega dessert and we’re sold! Sugarfina’s miniature gingerbread cookies are ensconced in creamy white chocolate and infused with cinnamon and sugar. Pick up the small cube, $7.50, at the Lenox Square location.
With people coming in and out of your house this holiday season, it’s important to keep the place looking and smelling great. Pick up the Aloha orchid candle in the watercolor jar, $34.50 each, from Honey & Hazel Boutique, to get your senses in a happy place for a season of entertaining.
Stop by Room & Board to get these colorful, tribal pattern Ridvan accent pillows. Available in three sizes, each pillow is one of a kind, made from a vintage Kilim rug and handcrafted. Make sure to actually visit the showroom as these pillows are only sold in store and available in limited qualities. The accent pillow pricing is $189 for 22×13, $129 for 20×20 and $149 for the 24×24 size.
The Brumby Jumbo rocking chair, $995, makes a great gift for anyone who appreciates fine workmanship and a connection to the past. You can select from a variety of stain and enamel colors. The Brumby Chair Company operates out of Marietta, Georgia and has been handcrafting rocking chairs since 1875.
With all the chemicals we know about, and don’t know about in our little world, it’s nice to focus on organic, natural products. Beyond what you put in your body, think about what you’re using around your body. That’s why we love Simple Sisters’ Honest and Green All-Purpose Cleaners, $10, available at Preserving Place. The vinegar-based products come in a glass bottle and include an organic cotton cleaning rag.
OK, before you freak out thinking that the newest skincare fad is to shine up that noggin, relax. Snout Shine, $8, from Highland Pet Supply, is a nose gloss for little Fido. Polish his little shnoz with this product and he’ll stand proud…then sniff in the dirt a few minutes later.
CLOTHES & ACCESSORIES
Stand out at your Thanksgiving meal with this whimsical, stylish necklace, $125, from Roberta Roller Rabbit. It’s a cool six-strand necklace featuring wooden beads wrapped in tie-dyed silk, and will dress up any look.
Ever wish you could forgo the evening plans and just stay wrapped up in your warm blanket? Well you can sort of have it both ways with this soft and cozy dress, $99, from Half Moon Outfitters. This textured knit dress has a totally flattering, feminine cut and would make a great addition to your closet (it’s available in winter white, pictured here, and muted truffle).
Geometric color blocking is super in right now, but don’t feel overwhelmed by the style. Use the trend in a not-so-obvious way with this clutch, $128, from Lila Boutique. The pink, camel and turquoise hues just work together and will be a great finishing touch for your holiday ensemble.
Little Sally and Judy will dress up their ‘dos AND get their classmates hungry for lunchtime with these adorable food-themed bows, $7.99 each. We fell in love with these hair accessories from Buckhead’s Pigtails & Crewcuts with various themes as cupcakes, ice cream and doughnuts.
Though it may be difficult to squeeze in your weekly workouts as the holidays head our way, do your best and keep the routine going. And as part of that routine, wear these OOFOS flip flops, $44.95, from Big Peach Running Co. to soothe and reinvigorate your tootsies after a workout. The sandals use a patented technology to absorb impact and cradle your arches for a comfortable, natural gait.
It’s hard to narrow down our favorite finds at Trina Turk – there are so many on our holiday wish list (hear that, hubby?!). However this adorable gold cosmetic bag, $56, is a super chic place to keep your makeup or anything else you need to carry. Plus, it has a super slick feel that just screams fabulous!
