August 4, 2018: Cool Dads Rock Soap Box Derby

It’s that time again! Come show what you’ve got at this year’s CDR Soap Box Derby Festival. This is a great opportunity to design and build your own soap box, have fun with the family AND support a good cause — all in one wave of the flag. The event is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the derby race starts at 12:30 p.m. Registration is open to everyone ages 4 and up, so grab your toolbox and bring on the competition! August 5, 2018: Summer Adventures Day

Say goodbye to summer with a wet and wild party at Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell. The fun runs from noon until 4 p.m. and includes canoeing, puppet shows, storytime, guided hikes, water activities and of course, Kona ice. August 9, 2018: The Big Fake Wedding

Planning a wedding but not into those huge bridal shows? August 10, 2018: Jazz on the Lawn – Bob Baldwin

Finish Callanwolde Fine Arts Center’s Jazz on the Lawn series with famed jazz musician Bob Baldwin. The concert happens from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. and is a great way to unwind, socialize and squeeze out the final drops of outdoor summer fun. August 11, 2018: Slow Food Atlanta’s 12th Annual Ice Cream Social

August’s weather can be pretty brutal, but enjoying frosty, sweet treats makes the humidity much more tolerable. Slow Food Atlanta’s Ice Cream Social lets hot, hungry ticket holders try some of the tastiest, most creative ice cream flavors. The cool event runs from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at The Cathedral of St. Philip’s Child Hall (this year inside!), and advance tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for kids (ages 5 and up). And remember: BYOS! August 11, 2018: Pub Crawl on the BeltLine — Summer Edition

Summer is here and the Atlanta BeltLine is one of the hottest (literally) places to be. Gather your friends and “crawl” from Inman Park to Piedmont Park, hitting some of the best bars and restaurants in town. The event will be held from noon to 4 p.m., during which you can enjoy up to five complimentary beverages along the way, as well as food and drink specials at participating locations. August 11, 2018: Flashback Music Festival

The Flashback Music Festival is set to be held at the Lakewood Amphitheater where you can take it all the way back in celebration of old school R&B, funk and soul. This year’s lineup will include Tony! Toni! Toné!, Stephanie Mills, Rose Royce and many more. General admission lawn seating is $30, and reserved stadium seating starts at $58. August 11, 2018: Decatur BBQ Blues & Bluegrass Festival

Get ready for some cold beer, tasty BBQ and great tunes at the Decatur BBQ Blues & Bluegrass Festival. August 12, 2018: Discover Spain Wine and Food Festival

August 17, 2018: Can Can Ball

Join the Atlanta Apartment Association this year as they celebrate giving to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. August 18, 2018: Dinosaur Birthday Bash

From the world’s largest dinosaurs to Atlanta’s biggest IMAX screen experience, a world of adventure awaits at Atlanta’s top destination for family fun. The Fernbank Museum of Natural History presents a prehistoric party celebrating the anniversary of Giants of the Mesozoic. The day will be filled with dinosaur (and birthday) themed activities including games, crafts and hands-on activities perfect for the kiddos. August 18, 2018: Atlanta Wine Fest

Wine seems to make everything a little bit better, so we can’t even imagine how perfect the 2018 Wine Fest will be! August 18-19, 2018: Piedmont Park Summer Arts Festival

Presented by the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces, this two-day outdoor event emphasizes visual arts and family fun for everyone. The festival will feature 250 photographers, sculptors, glass blowers, jewelers and crafters as well as live acoustics, artist demonstrations, festival foods and a children’s play area. August 25, 2018: German Bierfest

German food. German music. And, of course, German beers of nearly 50 authentic varieties! This family-friendly event will be held at Woodruff Park. The BronzeLens Film Festival is an amazing event dedicated to bringing attention and respect to Atlanta as a mecca of film and related production for people of color. August 24, 2018: Sips Under the Sea – Tailgate Party

Need a night off with no kids allowed? Georgia Aquarium thinks so, too! Presenting a game-night themed cocktail party, the whole aquarium will be open to roam with cocktails, tapas and, of course, entertainment. Doors open at 7 p.m. for general admission and 6 p.m. for VIP; all attendees must be 21 years or older. General admission is $28.95. August 25 & 26, 2018: Grant Park Summer Shade Festival

Atlanta’s oldest park welcomes you for a full weekend of fun in support of The Grant Park Conservancy. Bid adieu to summer at the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. All ages are welcome to enjoy events like a 5K run for the park, plenty of food trucks, craft beers, a Sunday morning farmers’ market and, of course, a kids zone. August 26, 2018: Healthy Living Day

Get the family back on track this summer with help from the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education as it hosts their Healthy Living Day at the Michael C. Carlos Dance Centre in West Midtown. Both kids and adults can participate in a variety of free activities such as arts & crafts, food demonstrations, dance classes and nutrition seminars. Classes are from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and performances are from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. There also will be door prizes and a healthy living book fair! August 31 – September 2, 2018: Hot Air Balloon Festival at Callaway Gardens

Hot air balloons are a treat for children and adults, alike!
