They say April showers bring May flowers, but April deserves way more credit than just being filled with overcast skies and thunderstorms. April 5-7, 2018: Atlanta Improv Festival

The Atlanta Improv Festival brings together the funniest, most creative people who, let’s be honest, are probably some of the bravest to perform in front of huge audiences on the fly. April 7, 2018: Food-o-Rama

If cocktails and brews, vegetarian or carnivore meals and music and fun sound like your perfect Saturday, then, no-foolin’, head to Old Fourth Ward Park on Saturday, April 7, for the Food-o-Rama event. There is no admission charge! With 35 food trucks from around the Southeast, live music and more, this is sure to please families, couples and groups of friends alike. April 7, 2018: Rhythm & Brews

Showing pride for Atlanta has never been easier than with the Rhythm & Brews festival. Held on the Sandy Springs Society Entertainment Lawn from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m., this daylong event celebrates Atlanta music and beer in one big outdoor concert series. Tickets are $25 in advance and include two drinks (for those over 21). Those ages 13-20, or designated drivers, can access tickets for $15. heritagesandysprings.org

April 7 & 8, 2018: Festival on Ponce

In celebration of Atlanta’s thriving art scene, the Festival on Ponce is an annual arts and crafts event that promotes the work of artisans from Atlanta and across Georgia. April 8, 2018: Indie Craft Experience Spring Market

Indie Craft Experience (ICE) starts off its crafty year with the 2018 Spring Market! This one-day event, taking place at Yaarab Temple, runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and costs $5 at the door (kids under 12 are free). April 13-15, 2018: Atlanta Dogwood Festival

It’s time for the annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival at Piedmont Park, and this one promises to be bigger and better than ever with plenty of activities for people of all ages. In addition to the talented artists showing their wares, festival goers can participate in the 5K, buy tickets for the Kids Village rides and taste some fabulous food. April 13-22, 2018: Atlanta Film Festival 2018

Whether you’re a film geek to the core or just like a two-hour visual escape, make sure to get tickets for the 42nd Annual Atlanta Film Festival. The festival’s organizers receive thousands of submissions, introducing audiences to new independent, international, animated, documentary and short films. In addition to screenings, there will be panel discussions, analysis and more as part of the Creative Conference track. April 18, 2018: Sue Wasserman: Wandering in Wonder

Come to the Atlanta Botanical Garden on Wednesday, April 18, at 7 p.m. and meet Sue Wasserman, freelance writer and photographer, who will share her adventures and inspiration of time spent in gardens and woods. April 18-22, 2018: Lemonade Days

One of the best family events to hit Atlanta all year is Dunwoody’s Lemonade Days! The fun happens in Brook Run Park for five laughter-filled days, where kids and adults can ride more than 30 carnival rides, get their faces painted, chow down on great food and drinks (obviously lemonade) and check out performances from some of the most talented people around Atlanta. April 19 through May 13, 2018: Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles: Southeastern Designer Showhouse and Gardens

Do not miss this amazing home sure to draw people from across the Southeast. This seven-bedroom, six-bath home is situated in the heart of Buckhead. April 20-22, 2018: SweetWater 420 Fest

Music festival season has officially begun now that the last of the winter chill has faded, and that means SweetWater 420 Fest is back in Atlanta. Always held on the weekend closest to Earth Day, this year’s lineup is packed with big names and is a fantastic way to spend a weekend. An advance, general admission three-day pass is $123. April 21, 2018: Skyline Park’s Annual Spring Fling

Nothing says spring quite like the return of April weather and celebrating Atlanta’s beautiful greenery. All you Pinterest addicts, the mothership has landed! On Friday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., “pinners” from all across Georgia and the Southeast region will get to learn, create and connect together. Neighborhood festivals are a great way to mingle with your neighbors and friends while giving your kids a chance to spend an enjoyable day outdoors, and the Inman Park Festival provides just that each spring. Featuring home tours for grownups and music, activities and a parade for kids (and also grownups), this annual event is one of Atlanta’s favorites. April 29, 2018: Taste of Marietta

Taste of Marietta brings out anyone who loves a good meal to enjoy the best restaurants and caterers in Cobb County. Of course, you have to experience great food in a great locale, and Historic Marietta Square hosts this delicious event every year. Head to Marietta from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and enjoy this free festival all day – the only cost is the food itself.
