After the delicious success of Kevin Rathbun Steak, Rathbun’s, KROG Bar, and heck, even the Rathbun Steak Sandwich stand at the Braves’ game, Atlanta knows that when Kevin Rathbun opens a restaurant, it is going to be good and it is going to be a hit.
After visiting his latest venture, KR SteakBar, StyleBlueprint Atlanta can declare this restaurant a hit as well. First, we love the location. Set smack in the middle of Peachtree Hills and ADAC West (right across from Post Peachtree Hills), this little spot was begging for another neighborhood restaurant.
KR Steakbar’s twist is a menu full of Italian small plates along with Rathbun’s famous prime steaks. Small plates are the feature to encourage family style sharing.
The beverage menu has a nice collection of wines by the glass and the bottle and, of course, a lovely list of cocktails. Since I’m pregnant, I had the bartender whip up a non-alcoholic ginger beer cocktail. I love when a restaurant doesn’t bat an eye at special requests like that!
Our server walked us through how many small plates to start with and what would be a good entree choice for two people. She explained the idea of the small plates was to not only encourage sharing, but also to not leave you overly full. The goal is to leave you satisfied, but not feeling stuffed!
For our entree, we decided to spilt a few things for optimal tasting and sharing. Our choices: ribeye with arugla, radishes, and balsamic vinegar, tonnarelli pasta, and a spring vegetable small plate.
We had dessert as well, a lovely hazelnut chocolate mousse, but I didn’t grab a picture since it was too dark on the patio by then. But, trust me in that it was delicious! And I walked away full, but not overly stuffed. It was a lovely spring evening meal! I recommend getting reservations, especially on the weekends, as KR SteakBar is sure to become even more popular this sumer!
