What to Wear: November Events

We are highlighting some amazing events today, but they are just the tip of the iceberg of what is going on in this town this month. Embrace your city with these charitable events and never guess about “what to wear”!

November 15th: Sparkle and Twang

8-11 p.m.
Bridge Building (on the Cumberland waterfront)
$90/person; $175/couple
Benefiting: Tennessee State Museum

Sparkle and Twang invite

Sparkle & Twang is the Tennessee State Museum’s fall fundraiser showcasing the institution’s Costume & Textile Institute, and it’s the museum foundation’s more casual and more affordable fundraising event. Guests will enjoy a viewing of objects created by the newest Costume Institute members, along with a cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres, musical entertainment and a spectacular silent auction.

What to Wear:

Men, grab your best blue jeans and perhaps an embroidered Manuel jacket and shiny leather cowboy boots. Or, perhaps those dark jeans, a white button down, black blazer, bolero (or maybe just no tie?) and boots. Women, wear everything from sequined cocktail dresses to a black leather ensemble with a standout piece of jewelry. Seriously, there will be everything from denim and diamonds to leather and lace to bling and boho. It’s all about fun!

Raises money to help patients fighting Leukemia in Middle Tennessee through the Community Foundation

Team Chad

After losing their friend, Chad Welch (who was only 30 years old), to Leukemia in 2007, several of his friends set up a charity, Team Chad, through the Community Foundation. Team Chad throws events to raise funds which help patients in the Middle Tennessee area who are fighting Leukemia. The money goes to research, patient assistance and more.

Team Chad hosts several other events throughout the year including Pigs and Pigskins. Roughly 250 people attend each year for a fun event that celebrates life and raises a glass to a dear friend, whose life was cut short far too soon.

This party is outside under a huge heated tent (40×80) with at least 2 bars, 4 55in flat screens showing different football games and 1 game projected on a 20 ft tent wall.  Food is from Notorious P.I.G. & Edleys BBQ. Valet parking provided.

What to Wear:

Think Tailgate Chic and SEC football. Jeans, boots, school colors. Wear a scarf and jacket in case the game you are wanting to see is being shown outdoors!

November 16th: A Mad Men Affair

7 p.m.
Lexus Showroon at I-65 and Rosa Parks Blvd
Benefiting: Nashville Opera

Mad Men Affair for Opera

See the new Lexus venue, with all its glamor, transformed into New York circa 1960 for this event to benefit the Nashville Opera. Signature cocktails, specialty lounges, an elegant four-course dinner and dancing to Rat Pack entertainment.

What to Wear:

Release your inner Betty, Joan, Peggy, Don or Roger. Think 60′s chic, without a lit cigarette, and get ready to have fun. Women, think dress that falls at the knee, add some pumps, pearls and go all out on your hair and makeup. Men, suit (3 piece if you can find it) and tie, for sure. Pocket square, definitely. Hair gel? Yes. And, for all of you bearded men … not sure what to tell you to do with that.

November 21st: Happy Hiller Nash Bash Dinner

6 p.m.
Loveless Barn
Benefiting Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research

Nash Bash invite 2013

Fabulous cocktails, delicious food and silent and live auction items await you at the Nash Bash, with a Great Gatsby theme. All proceeds will benefit Rally’s mission to find better treatments with fewer long-term side effects and, ultimately, cures for childhood cancer.

What to Wear:

Great Gatsby 1920’s style! Cocktail attire or dressy jeans are also fitting. You can go all out and rent from Performance Studios, or simply add lots of pearls and a headband with feathers and perhaps some gloves. Guys, think tuxedo, white suit, straw hat and more. Hopefully these photos will inspire you, but remember that the description for the evening also says “cocktail attire of dressy jeans are also fitting,” so don’t let a costume paralysis stop you from attending!

November 17th, Nashville Symphony Music With a Mission

7 p.m.
Schermerhorn Symphony Center
$35 to $125/each
Benefiting the Nashville Rescue Mission

Music with a Missiob

A star-studded array of celebrity entertainers, accompanied by the Grammy-award winning Nashville Symphony, will fill the program for the 2013 Music With a Mission to benefit Nashville Rescue Mission. Restless Heart and the Nashville Symphony will host Music with a Mission and perform in this event to raise awareness and funds for Nashville Rescue Mission. In addition to Restless Heart, scheduled performers include Amy Grant, Peter Noone, Tracy Lawrence and David Phelps.

What to Wear

Really, this is a Sunday night, so you can be more casual than a fancy Saturday night Symphony concert. But, seeing as Nov 14-16th is the Bank of America Pops Series at the Symphony, we thought it would be fun to showcase some outfits that could take you to the Pops concert (A Tribute to Patsy Cline with Mandy Barnett), as well as Music with a Mission. In the end, expect to see a lot of everything, but keeping away from both the sparkly dresses and the worn out denim will make you feel most at home.

For more information and to purchase tickets: click here.

SB Hemline What to Wear November 4

From Hemline: French connection black top ($88) and vegan leather vest $148; Show Me Your Mumu long skirt $195.99; Julio necklace $108.

SB Kendall What to Wear November 5

From Kendall Boutique, Bailey 44 red dress $164, rabbit fur infinity scarf $164.

And since we find ourselves sometimes needing to go to two events in one night, how about this same outfit from above with a denim jack and boots for Pigs

And since we find ourselves sometimes needing to go to two events in one night, how about this same outfit from above with a denim jack and boots for Pigs N Pigskins on Nov 16th and then scoot out for the Pops Patsy Cline Tribute show with just a change of shoes that you’ve left in the car!

A few events to consider where you can wear whatever you want:
